Abstract:
Techniques are discussed herein for providing notification messages to a user are provided. An example method of sending an alert message according to the disclosure includes receiving a notification message for a user, determining a location of the user, determining one or more notification devices based the location of the user, generating the alert message based on one or more notification preferences associated with the user and the one or more notification devices, and sending the alert message to at least one of the one or more notification devices based on the notification preferences.
Abstract:
A method, in a mobile device, of controlling region determination by the mobile device, includes: determining a present pressure at the mobile device; determining, based on the present pressure and a reference pressure, that the mobile device moved from a first region to a second region within a structure, the first region and the second region being different regions of the structure and vertically displaced from each other; and performing region determination in response to determining that the mobile device moved from the first region to the second region.
Abstract:
Disclosed are implementations, including a method, performed at a processor-based mobile device, that includes receiving at the mobile device antenna information for a wireless node, including a transmitter gain for the wireless node in at least one message transmitted to the mobile device. The at least one message includes, a beacon frame message, a fine timing measurement (FTM) protocol-based message, and/or an assistance data message transmitted from a remote central repository. The method also includes deriving an estimate of a receiver gain for a receiver of the mobile device based, at least in part, on the transmitter gain for the wireless node, and adjusting one or more signal strength values determined for signals received from the wireless node based on the estimate of the receiver gain of the receiver of the mobile device derived based, at least in part, on the transmitter gain for the wireless node.
Abstract:
Disclosed are methods, devices, systems, apparatus, servers, computer-/processor-readable media, and other implementations, including a method, performed at a processor-based wireless mobile device, that includes receiving, by the mobile device, signals that include at least one message comprising antenna information for a first wireless node transmitting the signals, and transmitting, by the mobile device, an information message including the antenna information for the first wireless node to a remote device configured to receive and store antenna data for multiple wireless nodes obtained by one or more wireless devices while visiting respective areas covered by the multiple wireless nodes.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus are described for providing location assistance information to a mobile device. An example of a method for providing location assistance information to the mobile device by a femto base station includes receiving a macro base station signal during a monitoring time period during which the femto base station is substantially stationary, obtaining location assistance information, the location assistance information being based, at least in part, on the received macro base station signal, and transmitting the location assistance information to the mobile device.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, computer-readable media, and apparatuses are presented for determining positions of mobile devices in a peer-to-peer network group. In some embodiments, a server receives information regarding a distance between a group owner mobile device and a client mobile device in a peer-to-peer network group. The server determines whether the distance between the group owner mobile device and the client mobile device exceeds a threshold distance. If the threshold distance is not exceeded, the server associates a position of the group owner mobile device with a position of the client mobile device.
Abstract:
In a tracking of a position and motion of a device, a set of hypothetical locations of the device is generated. Hypothetical locations among the set are propagated to respective hypothetical next locations, using respective location-specific propagation models associated with the hypothetical locations. Sensor information having correlation to a location of the device is received. An importance weighting for the hypothetical next locations is calculated using the new sensor information. Probable locations of the device are generated using the importance weighting.
Abstract:
Techniques described herein enable a mobile device in selecting an access point (AP) from a plurality of APs for determining the position of the mobile device. In one aspect, the mobile device receives assistance data including traffic load information associated with one or more APs. The mobile device may determine which AP to communicate with based on the traffic load information associated with a plurality of APs. The assistance data including the traffic load information associated with the plurality of APs may be compiled using information from a controller connected to the plurality of APs, crowdsourcing (using information from a plurality of mobile devices over time), or information regarding the traffic conditions received from the plurality of APs. In one implementation, the mobile device may receive the assistance data information including the traffic load information from an assistance data (AD) Server.
Abstract:
Systems, apparatus and methods for preparing assistance data in a location server from coverage report messages of one or more access points from a plurality of mobile devices are presented. Several mobile devices each collect information from and about one or more access points. This crowd-sourced information is sent from a mobile device to a location server and may include ranging information (such as RSSI or RTT) and/or broadcast information (such as broadcast position and/or transmit power level) and/or computed information (such as path loss). Using this crowd-sourced information, the location server may form assistance data for an assistance data database, which may later be tailored for and send to a specific mobile device.
Abstract:
Example methods, apparatuses, or articles of manufacture are disclosed herein that may be utilized, in whole or in part, to facilitate or support one or more operations or techniques for utilizing a pressure profile to determine a location context identifier (LCI) for use in or with a mobile communication device.
