Provided are a video encoding method and apparatus and a video decoding method and apparatus for producing a reconstructed video having a minimum error with respect to an original video. The video decoding method includes parsing an edge correction parameter from a bitstream, the edge correction parameter being used to correct a reconstructed pixel included in a current block, determining whether the reconstructed pixel is included in an edge region according to a first threshold value included in the edge correction parameter, determining whether the reconstructed pixel is to be corrected according to a second threshold value included in the edge correction parameter when the reconstructed pixel is included in the edge region, and compensating for a sample value of the reconstructed pixel according to a third threshold value included in the edge correction parameter when the reconstructed pixel is to be corrected.

Provided is a video decoding method including: obtaining mode information of a contour for determining at least one segment from a current block; determining whether first coordinates and second coordinates of the contour are derivable from a neighboring block of the current block, based on the mode information of the contour; when the first and second coordinates of the contour are derivable from the neighboring block of the current block, determining the at least one segment from the current block based on the first and second coordinates of the contour derived from the neighboring block of the current block; and performing prediction with respect to the determined at least one segment.

Provided are methods and apparatuses for encoding and decoding an image. The method of encoding includes: determining a maximum size of a buffer to decode each image frame by a decoder, a number of image frames to be reordered, and latency information of an image frame having a largest difference between an encoding order and a display order from among image frames that form an image sequence, based on an encoding order the image frames that form the image sequence, an encoding order of reference frames referred to by the image frames, a display order of the image frames, and a display order of the reference frames; and adding, to a mandatory sequence parameter set, a first syntax indicating the maximum size of the buffer, a second syntax indicating the number of image frames to be reordered, and a third syntax indicating the latency information.

Provided are a content security method and an electronic apparatus for providing a content security function. The content security method according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: generating a security key used to decrypt security content; generating a security message based on the security key, content transmitter identification information, and content receiver identification information; generating the security content by encrypting content; and transmitting the security content and the security message to an external electronic apparatus.

Provided is a multilayer video decoding method including obtaining a multilayer video bitstream; determining, based on the obtained multilayer video bitstream, whether or not a default reference type, in which at least one layer is inter-layer predicted by using at least one reference layer by default, is used; and inter-layer predicting the at least one layer by using the at least one reference layer according to the default reference type, based on the determining of whether or not the default reference type is used, and decoding an image including the at least one layer.
