摘要: Methods and apparatus to form venting channels on a panel for a decorative layer are disclosed. An example method includes contacting an outer surface of a tool to an outer resin layer of a panel. The outer surface of the tool has protrusions. The example method includes moving the outer surface of the tool on the outer resin layer of the panel in a first direction to cause the protrusions of the tool to form first venting channels on the outer resin layer of the panel and coupling a decorative layer to the outer resin layer of the panel via an adhesive layer. The first venting channels are to vent at least one of gas or vapor away from the decorative layer to deter separation of a portion of the decorative layer from the outer resin layer.

摘要: Methods and apparatus to remove gas and vapor from a panel for a decorative layer are disclosed. An example apparatus includes a first press plate of a hot press to engage a first surface of a panel. The hot press is to apply heat to the panel via the first press plate to cure resin of the panel. A first portion of the first press plate is composed of a permeable material to remove at least one of gas or vapor from the panel to deter the at least one of gas or vapor from exerting a pressure on a decorative layer to be coupled to the panel to deter separation of a portion of the decorative layer from the panel.

摘要: Methods and apparatus to couple a decorative composite having a reinforcing layer to a panel are disclosed. An example apparatus includes a decorative layer and a first reinforcing layer coupled to the decorative layer. The example apparatus includes a coil reduction layer that is to apply a force to the first reinforcing layer to reduce coiling of the first reinforcing layer. The example apparatus includes an adhesive layer applied to the coil reduction layer that is coupled to the first reinforcing layer to enable the decorative layer to be coupled to a panel. A rigidity of the first reinforcing layer is to enable the first reinforcing layer to distribute a force exerted by at least one of gas or vapor disposed between the first reinforcing layer and the decorative layer to impede separation of a portion of the decorative layer from the panel.

摘要: A method and system for an aerospace vehicle. A pulse of electromagnetic radiation is transmitted into the composite sandwich panel such that the composite sandwich panel is heated above an ambient temperature. An amount of infrared radiation generated in the composite sandwich panel is detected in response to transmitting the pulse of electromagnetic radiation into the composite sandwich panel using a time window selected to detect the amount of infrared radiation when the pulse of electromagnetic radiation heats the composite sandwich panel. The amount of infrared radiation detected indicates a level of moisture in the composite sandwich panel.

摘要: Provided is a method and system for dynamic shearographic inspection. The dynamic shearographic method allows nondestructive inspection of layered materials, in particular, those including a porous material. The method uses a load profile that increases and decreases the load, for example in a saw-tooth manner, without decreasing the load back down to the initial loading state, usually zero loading. Using the load profile in this manner constantly refreshes the reference speckle images to minimize background noise and allows defects to be distinguished from the noise.
