    Abstract: A base station includes an antenna to receive frequency bands that include a first band associated with first signals carrying machine-two-machine (M2M) data and a second band associated with second signals carrying user equipment (UE) data. The base station further includes a baseband unit (BBU) that includes: a radio frequency (RF) interface configured to receive the first signals and the second signals, a digital front end (DFE) configured to generate first symbols based on the first signals and second symbols based on the second signals, a symbol processor configured to convert the first symbols into the M2M data and the second symbols into the UE data, and one or more processors configured to forward the M2M data to a first device and the UE data to a second device that differs from the first device.

    Abstract: A method, a device, and a non-transitory storage medium to store traffic aggregation settings that include hold time values that each indicate a maximum period of time to suspend a transmission of data; receive data from a resident application; determine a type of application from which the data is received; determine whether the device in an active state; select one of the hold time values in response to a determination that the device is not in the active state; suspend a transmission of the data in response to a selection of the one of the hold time values, wherein the transmission of the data is suspended for at least a portion of a maximum time period indicated by the one of the hold time values; and transmit the data subsequent to the at least the portion of the maximum time period elapsing.

    Abstract: Systems and methods provide a short data, low latency service using a Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) network. A network device receives, in a core network, an attach request from an end device and detect whether a packet size range for data transmissions from the end device is within a configured size threshold. The network device directs, when the packet size is within the configured size threshold, routing of the data transmissions via a control plane function of an edge network to a local instance of an application server in the edge network. The network device directs, when the packet size is over the configured size threshold, routing of the data transmissions via a user plane function of the edge network to a local instance of an application server in the edge network.
