    摘要: Provided are a method and apparatus for predicting frequency transform coefficients in a video codec, a video encoder and decoder having the apparatus, and an encoding and decoding method using the method. The method of predicting the frequency transform coefficients in a frequency transform domain includes: calculating a cost between a DC coefficient of a current frequency transformed block that is to be predicted and DC coefficients of frequency transformed blocks adjacent in horizontal, vertical, and diagonal directions with respect to the current frequency transformed block; and selecting an adjacent block with the smallest calculated cost, and predicting DC and AC coefficients of the current frequency transformed block using coefficients of the selected adjacent block. Accordingly, compression efficiency can be improved, and video data can be effectively encoded reflecting the characteristics of various patterns by calculating prediction values of numerous patterns.

    摘要: A decoding method, medium, and apparatus capable of preventing error propagation and implementing parallel processing. A decoding method includes comparing encoding information with decoding information at synchronization points for detecting a transmission error, and continuing to decode the encoded data if both the encoding and decoding information match, or continuing to decode remaining data located beyond the corresponding synchronization point by limiting a transmission error region to between the corresponding synchronization point and an immediately previous synchronization point, with reference to the encoding information if the encoding and decoding information do not match. Furthermore, the encoded data of a plurality of regions are simultaneously decoded in parallel, with reference to the encoding information of a plurality of synchronization points. Therefore, it is possible to prevent error propagation by limiting the transmission error within a smallest possible length and to reduce a decoding time by using a parallel processing.

The decoding method includes comparing encoding status information with decoding status information by receiving encoded data and the encoding status information of at least one synchronization point set in every predetermined period to detect a transmission error and to obtain the decoding status information of a corresponding synchronization point while decoding the encoded data, and continuing to decode the received data if the encoding status information of the at least one synchronization point is the same as the decoding status information of the corresponding synchronization point, and recovering previously decoded data before a previous synchronization point by detecting a transmission error region between the corresponding synchronization point and the previous synchronization point if the encoding status information is different from the decoding status information. It is possible to detect an error for each synchronization point and recover data positioned in a region having no error.
