    摘要: A contact lens solution is provided for wetting, soaking and lubricating of hard contact lenses, particularly those carrying an ionic charge. The solution contains an ionic polymer of cationic or anionic charge that interacts with an oppositely charged surface of a contact lens forming an interfacial polyelectrolyte complex. This polyelectrolyte complex provides increased, long lasting lens wettability leading to a cushioning and lubricating effect with the eyelid and the cornea.

    摘要: An antimicrobial composition with synergistic biocidal activity is described which comprises at least one antimicrobial polymeric biguanide and at least one antimicrobial vicinal diol, said vicinal diol comprises at least one monoalkyl glycol, monoalkyl glycerol, or monoacyl glycerol, to diminish or eliminate biofilm communities. Such synergistic interaction is effective in wound treatment, particularly for chronic wounds, burns and battlefield-induced wounds, as well as for disinfecting non-biological surfaces. The antimicrobial composition can also be prepared as viscous solutions or as gels. The antimicrobial composition may be added to a substrate and dried, such as to a catheter, or to a foam, or to a fiber wound dressing, or coated as a viscous solution or gel upon such devices, to provide controlled release antimicrobial activity.

    摘要: An intraocular lens with an ordered polymer system contained within a lens capsule or a membrane in the lens capsule. The ordered polymer system includes at least one negatively charged copolymer comprising hydrophilic groups, anionic groups and hydrophobic groups, and at least one positively charged copolymer comprising hydrophilic groups, cationic groups and hydrophobic groups. The at least one negatively charged copolymer and the at least one positively charged copolymer are associatively arranged through non-covalent interactions in the lens capsule or the membrane.
