Abstract: This disclosure relates to illumination modules operable to increase the area over which an illumination source, such as a vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser or light-emitting diode, illuminates. Such illumination modules include a substrate having electrical contacts, an illumination source electrically connected to the substrate, a collimation assembly operable to collimate the light generated from the illumination source, a translation assembly operable to translate light over an area, and a mask assembly. In various implementations the illumination source may be rather small in area, thereby reducing the cost of the illumination module. Some implementations of the illumination module can be used for the acquisition of three-dimensional data in some cases, while in other cases some implementations of the illumination module can be used for other applications requiring projected light.

Abstract: Compact spectrometer modules include an illumination channel and a detection channel. The illumination channel includes an illumination source operable to generate a broad spectrum of electromagnetic radiation. The detection channel includes an illumination detector and a Fabry-Perot component. The Fabry-Perot component is operable to pass a narrow spectrum of wavelengths to the illumination detector. Further, the Fabry-Perot component can be actuatable such that the Fabry- Perot component is operable to pass a plurality of narrow spectrums of wavelengths to the illumination detector.

Abstract: An optoelectronic module includes a first light emitter operable to emit radiation at a first wavelength toward an object outside the module. The module also includes demodulation pixels operable to detect radiation of the first wavelength reflected from the object. One or more processors are operable to determine a distance to the object based on the radiation detected by the demodulation pixels. The module is further operable to perform a supplemental measurement other than distance.

In some cases, the alignment features can help establish more precise lateral alignment of the optical elements.

Abstract: According to embodiments of the present invention, an apparatus comprising a beam shaping element (lens) is provided. The apparatus comprises a substrate; a beam shaping element; and an elastic intermediate layer disposed between, and in contact with, the substrate and the beam shaping element, wherein the elastic intermediate layer has a Young's Modulus in a range of 2-600 MPa and a Poisson's ratio in a range of 0.2-0.5. Techniques for reducing thermal distortion of lens are described.

The opto-electronic modules can be very small and can be produced in high quality in high volumes. In particular, at least two emission members (E1, E2), e.g., two LEDs, are provided, for emitting light of variable color. This can improve illumination of a scene.

Abstract: The present disclosure describes structured-stereo imaging assemblies including separate imagers for different wavelengths. The imaging assembly can include, for example, multiple imager sub-arrays, each of which includes a first imager to sense light of a first wavelength or range of wavelengths and a second imager to sense light of a different second wavelength or range of wavelengths. Images acquired from the imagers can be processed to obtain depth information and/or improved accuracy. Various techniques are described that can facilitate determining whether any of the imagers or sub-arrays are misaligned.

Said non-transparent material is present on at least said surrounding portion still in the finished optical device.
