Abstract:
In a filament winding method, while a rotating tank relatively reciprocates in a tank axial direction to a helical winding head, fibers are fed from yarn-feeding sections to the tank. After the tank turns back in the tank axial direction, a large number of fibers are wound around one domed portion and a trunk portion of the tank, and trailing ends of the large number of fibers are located at one end portion of the trunk portion. Then a piece or a small number of fibers are fed from a rotating hoop winding head to the trunk portion, and hoop winding is performed on helical winding layers formed around the trunk portion. Then, at the one end portion of the trunk portion, the large number of fibers pulled from the yarn-feeding sections of the helical winding head are cut off.
Abstract:
A flexible pipe body and method of producing a flexible pipe body are disclosed. The method includes providing a length of composite material of thermoplastic or thermosetting material with an electrically conductive material dispersed therein, applying the length to a mandrel or a layer of flexible pipe body, and heating the length by induction heating using an induction heating coil to cure the thermoplastic or thermosetting material.

Abstract:
An apparatus for applying a vinyl cover to an elongated member utilizes a sheet extruder providing a sheet of pliable vinyl or fiber reinforced polymer of predetermined width, a feed conveyor capable of supporting and rotating an elongated member adjacent the sheet extruder such that a still hot and pliable sheet may be applied thereto beginning at a proximal end as the wooden member rotates. The feed conveyor includes a linear drive urging the member transversely of the sheet extruder to position the member for continuous application of the sheet substantially along the length thereof, a rotary drive engaging the member at the proximal end and capable of rotating the member to continuously apply the sheet over an opposite end of the member.
Abstract:
The object of the invention is a method for building hoses reinforced with spirally laid fibres, where the hose under construction (3) undergoes both rotation and advancing motion relative to the laying head (12), and where the reinforcing fibres are unwound from drums (14). The drums (14) are rotated about two axes, the first axis being the principal axis of the drums (A) and the second axis (B) being nearly parallel with the direction in which the fibres are unwound, where the direction of rotation of the drums (14) about the second axis (B) is the same as the direction in which the hose under construction (3) is rotated. The apparatus for carrying out the method comprises a laying head (12) and a drum support platform (15), where the hose under construction (3) undergoes both rotation and advancing motion relative to the laying head (12), and where the reinforcing fibres (10) are unwound from drums (14) through a circular fibre guide (1) The further object of the invention is a method for building hoses reinforced with spirally laid fibres, wherein the reinforcing fibres (10) are laid on the hose surface through a rotating self-adjusting circular fibre guide (2) arranged substantially coaxially with the hose. The invention also relates to an apparatus for carrying out the above method.
Abstract:
A filament winding apparatus reduces fluctuations in a winding operation by bringing a plurality of guide portions that guide fiber bundles to a liner close to the liner in a winding unit. Each of the guide portions is a tubular member having a guide hole penetrated from a base end to a leading end portion. The leading end portion has a smaller thickness width. Each of the guide portions guides a second fiber bundle to the liner by passing the second fiber bundle from a side of the base end portion to a side of the leading end portion of the guide hole. By rotating each of the guide portions about an axis of the guide portion, and by sliding the guide portions in the radius direction of the liner, the guide portions can be brought close to the liner.
Abstract:
A breathing circuit component includes an inlet, an outlet and an enclosing wall. The enclosing wall defines a gases passageway between the inlet and the outlet. At least a region of the enclosing wall is formed from a breathable material that allows the passage of water vapour without allowing the passage of liquid water or respiratory gases. The breathing circuit component is the expiratory limb of a breathing circuit.
Abstract:
A printing member such as a printing cylinder includes an at least partly metal cylinder, or a sleeve to be mounted on a mandrel rotating about its axis. The printing member comprises a body having a thickness. With the printing member there is associated an activatable signaling device that is connectable to a recording device that is arranged to store data related to at least one characteristic of the printing member or to the use of the printing member. The activatable signaling device can include a transponder such as an RFID.
