摘要： The 9-thiabicyclononane derivatives have the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are each independently tertiary alkyl of 4 to 8 carbon atoms or .alpha.,.alpha.-dimethylbenzyl, and n is 0 to 2.The 9-thiabicyclononanes are prepared by reacting an alkali salt of 2,6-di-tert-alkylphenols with 2,6-dichloro-9-thiabicylo[3.3.1]nonane in a dipolar aprotic solvent. The sulfoxide and sulfones are prepared from the sulfides by oxidation with peracids.The compounds are useful as stabilizers for organic materials, particularly turbine oils and polyolefins, subject to oxidative degradation.

摘要： Organic material is stabilized by addition of a sulfurized product made by heating a mixture of (a) sulfur and (b) a reaction product formed by reacting in the presence of an alkali metal hydroxide catalyst (i) a mixture of at least two different alkylphenols, each having an unsubstituted ortho and/or para position, and (ii) formaldehyde. Preferably, the reaction product is formed in the presence of a small amount of primary lower alkanol such as methanol. When added to lubricating oil the sulfurized products also impart wear and corrosion inhibiting properties.

摘要： New polyfluoroalkyl iodides of the formula ##EQU1## are provided, wherein R.sub.f represents a fluorinated hydrocarbon radical with 3 to 18 carbon atoms, R.sub.1 represents hydrogen or fluorine, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 each independently represents hydrogen, lower alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, carboxy, carbalkoxy, --(CH.sub.2).sub.p OCOR.sub.2, in which R.sub.2 represents hydrogen or alkyl with 1 to 3 carbon atoms and p is 0 or a whole number from 1 to 3, phenyl and alkylphenyl, or R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 together with the carbon atoms to which they are bonded represent an optionally substituted cycloaliphatic radical with 5 or 6 ring carbon atoms, and n is a whole number from 1 to 3.The new compounds are useful as intermediates for the manufacture of oil- and water-repellents, as oil- and water-repellents per se, as lubricants and as surface active assistants.

Synergistic mixtures of esters sulfurized with sulfur and with sulfur monochloride and sulfur dichloride are provided. Also provided are lubricating oil compositions comprising (A) a major amount of an oil of lubricating viscosity, and (B) an amount effective to impart extreme-pressure and/or antiwear lubricating properties to said oil of these sulfurized esters.
