Abstract: Disclosed is a lubricating grease composition of about 90 to about 99% by weight of a lubricant and about 1 to about 5% by weight of polymeric organometallic phthalocyanine complex, including nitrogen-substituted analogues thereof, where the complexed metal ion is a Group IVA metal. The lubricating composition is used in ball and roller bearings, especially at high speeds and high temperatures.

Abstract: A silicone-based working fluid composition capable of exhibiting greatly improved performance of boundary lubrication is obtained by admixing an organopolysiloxane fluid with a specific chlorine-containing polycyclic cyclooctene compound in a specified amount. The inventive working fluid composition is useful, for example, as a damper fluid in various damper units due to the greatly improved lubrication and excellent thermal stability as a consequence of the high heat resistance of the specific additive.

Abstract: A highly heat-resistant silicone fluid composition is proposed which comprises a conventional silicone fluid as the base component and a small amount of an additive organopolysiloxane modified with aromatic amino-containing groups such as 4-(p-semidino)phenyl, 4-(.alpha.-naphthylamino)phenyl and 4-(.beta.-naphthylamino)phenyl groups bonded to the silicone atoms either directly or through an oxygen atom.

Abstract: A method of protecting silver contacts in switches for electronic equipment is provided by utilizing a silicone-based grease which is comprised of a polyorganosiloxane base in combination with a thickener such as finely divided silica or a metal soap and an organomercaptan compound represented by R.sup.2 SH wherein R.sup.2 represents a saturated or unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbon group having 18 to 22 carbon atoms. There may also be optionally included an ester bond-containing organic compound for improved properties when the treated silver contacts have relatively high contact pressure.

Abstract: Acicular, crystalline calcium metaphosphate having a length to average diameter ratio of at least 10:1 can be prepared by forming a melt of materials used as a source of calcium, phosphorus and alkali metal, cooling the melt to about 550.degree. C. to about 970.degree. C., inducing acicular crystal formation, and recovering the acicular crystals. The diameters of the resultant acicular, crystalline calcium metaphosphates can average as small as 0.5 micron or smaller. Acicular, crystalline calcium metaphosphate can also be prepared with an average diameter of several microns and a length of several centimeters. Such acicular, crystalline calcium metaphosphates are useful in a number of applications, and particularly to prepare composites with organic polymeric materials.
