Abstract:
A cylinder device includes a piston rod that is inserted into a cylinder so as to be movable back and forth. The piston rod has a rod portion that extends outside the cylinder, and a piston connected to an end portion of the rod portion, the piston moving in the cylinder in a slidable manner. The rod portion has a rod inner space formed in the rod portion, the rod inner space communicating with the piston-side chamber of the cylinder, a first communicating passage that connects the rod inner space and the rod-side chamber of the cylinder, and an orifice plug provided in the first communicating passage in a changeable manner. The piston is connected to the rod portion so as to cover a part of the orifice plug.
Abstract:
A pneumatic spring strut assembly comprises a cylinder comprising a working end and a boosting chamber. The working end includes a first volume of gas and the boosting chamber includes a second volume of gas. A temperature control valve assembly is disposed in the interior volume separating the working end from the boosting chamber and includes an over-pressure valve configured to release the second volume of gas into the working end when the pressure within the boosting chamber increases above the normal pressure range of operation. A valve is disposed in the wall of the cylinder, in the working end thereof, and is configured to yield, to thereby vent the first volume of gas to atmosphere, when the pressure within the interior volume of the working end increases above the normal pressure range of operation.
Abstract:
A hydraulic circuit comprising an actuator having an extension chamber and a retraction chamber, a bypass passage provided in the hydraulic circuit between defined between the extension chamber and the retraction chamber, and a damping device.
Abstract:
A damper assembly with a bypass for a vehicle comprises a pressure cylinder with a piston and piston rod for limiting the flow rate of damping fluid as passes from a first to a second side of said piston. A bypass provides fluid pathway between the first and second sides of the piston separately from the flow rare limitation. In one aspect, the bypass is remotely controllable from a passenger compartment of the vehicle. In another aspect, the bypass is remotely controllable based upon one or more variable parameters associated with the vehicle.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, a gas spring having a travel control includes positive and negative chambers and a valve mechanism that controls the fluid communication between the chambers. The valve mechanism includes a valve bore that while only moving a small amount, allows for large changes in gas spring travel length.

A shock absorber includes at least one of an expansion-side sensitive unit and a contraction-side sensitive unit. The expansion-side sensitive unit has an expansion-side actuating chamber that communicates with an expansion-side chamber and a contraction-side chamber, an expansion-side free piston that partitions the expansion-side actuating chamber into a first expansion-side pressure chamber and a second expansion-side pressure chamber, and an expansion-side spring element configured to bias the expansion-side free piston to compress the first expansion-side pressure chamber. The contraction-side sensitive unit has a contraction-side actuating chamber that communicates with a contraction-side chamber and a reservoir, a contraction-side free piston that partitions the contraction-side actuating chamber into a first contraction-side pressure chamber and a second contraction-side pressure chamber, and a contraction-side spring element configured to bias the contraction-side free piston to compress the first contraction-side pressure chamber.
Abstract:
A damping force variable type shock absorber includes: a piston rod reciprocating within the cylinder; a piston valve connected to the piston rod to partition the cylinder into a compression chamber and a rebound chamber; a housing including an auxiliary chamber communicating with a connection passage penetrating an inside of the piston rod in a longitudinal direction of the piston rod, the housing being connected to a lower portion of the piston valve and forming an auxiliary passage connected to the compression chamber disposed thereunder; a first damping unit disposed in an upper side of the auxiliary chamber to form a first bypass passage communicating the connection passage with the auxiliary passage in a zigzag form, the first damping unit allowing a deformation according to a flow of a working fluid in a predetermined speed section; a second damping unit accommodated in the auxiliary chamber and disposed under the first damping unit to form a second bypass passage connected to the first bypass passage, the second damping unit allowing a deformation according to the flow of the working fluid in a predetermined speed section; and a seal unit accommodated in the auxiliary chamber and disposed under the first damping unit to vertically support the second damping unit. Accordingly, it is possible to improve ride comfort by bypassing the working fluid while allowing a deformation along the flow of the working fluid in a predetermined speed section.
Abstract:
A valve assembly for a bicycle suspension system includes a housing, a rotary valve disposed within the housing, and a rotational electro mechanical actuator disposed within the housing. The housing is configured to house shock absorber fluid. The rotational electro mechanical actuator is disposed in operable communication with the rotary valve. The housing, the rotary valve and the rotational electro mechanical actuator define a plurality of fluid flow passages internal to the housing. The rotary valve and the rotational electro mechanical actuator are each subject to contact with or immersion in the shock absorber fluid in the housing when present.

Abstract:
A modern suspension damper, for example, a shock absorber or a suspension fork, including an inertia valve and a pressure-relief feature is disclosed. The pressure-relief feature includes a rotatable adjustment knob that allows the pressure-relief threshold to be externally adjusted by the rider “on-the-fly” and without the use of tools.
