摘要: An apparatus for manufacturing an electrode assembly includes a separator supply unit, a table, a separator guide, and a pair of upper adhesive supply units. The separator supply unit is configured for supplying a separator sheet from which a separator is formed. The table is configured for supporting an electrode and a portion of the separator sheet. The separator guide is configured for guiding the separator sheet to fold in a particular folding direction. The pair of upper adhesive supply units are configured for applying an adhesive to at least a part of an uppermost electrode supported by the table. The separator guide and the pair of upper adhesive supply units are configured for translation over and relative to the table. The electrode assembly is manufactured by a process using the apparatus.

摘要: Provided is an electrode assembly manufacturing process comprising the following steps. First, wrapping a second separator around a laminate structure having alternating layers of positive electrodes, first separators, and negative electrodes. Second, simultaneously pressing the upper end and the lower end of the laminate structure including the second separator-3-2 to strengthen the adhesive strength between each layer of the laminate structure. Third, bonding the excess portions of the second separator-3-2 surrounding the structure, thereby adjusting to meet the standard requirements of the laminate structure. And fourth, bonding each of the bonded portions of the second separator to a respective adjacent portion of the second separator in the lateral dimension. The electrode assembly manufacturing process minimizes damage to the initial structure and allows the wrapping to suit the size of the structure, thereby increasing the utilization value of the electrode assembly.

The improved battery separators of the instant invention are particularly useful in or with industrial batteries, such as inverter batteries, batteries for heavy or light duty industrial applications, and so forth.

摘要: Described herein are electrode-separator integrated assemblies, lithium-metal electrochemical cells comprising such assemblies, and methods of fabricating such assemblies and cells. An assembly can be formed as one continuous structure comprising one type of electrodes (referred to as an assembly electrode) wrapping around multiple other-type electrodes (referred to as non-assembly electrodes). Either positive or negative electrodes can be assembly electrodes, i.e., parts of electrode-separator integrated assemblies. The assembly also comprises a first separator portion and a second separator portion such that the assembly electrode is positioned between the two separator portions. The separator portions can be adhered to the assembly electrode. The separator portions can be independent separate sheets or parts of a single monolithic sheet wrapping around the inner edges of the assembly electrode. A portion of the assembly electrode extends from the separator portions for making electrical connections to other electrodes and or cell tabs.

摘要: A jelly-roll type electrode assembly includes a first separator, a second separator, a negative electrode, and a positive electrode. The first separator and second separator are positioned adjacent each other in a separator overlapping portion and extend with at least three layers in a first direction toward a core of the electrode assembly between an inner surface of the positive electrode and an outer surface of the negative electrode. An adhesive tape is located in at least one of a location between the outer surface of the positive electrode and an inner surface of the first separator, and a location between an outer surface of the negative electrode and the inner surface of the first separator.

摘要: To provide a secondary battery that is suitable to a portable information terminal or a wearable device. To provide an electronic device having a novel structure that can have various forms and a secondary battery that fits the forms of the electronic device. The secondary battery includes a film provided with depressions or projections that can ease stress on the film due to application of external force. The sizes of the depressions or projections are different between a center portion and an end portion of the film. The end portion of the film is sealed with an adhesive layer. The depressions or projections of the film are formed by pressing such as embossing.

The electrode assembly includes: a separator configured to include a first insertion portion formed in a first direction and a second insertion portion formed in a second direction, which are alternatively stacked; a first electrode inserted into the first insertion portion; a second electrode inserted into the second insertion portion while the separator is disposed between the first electrode and the second electrode; a sealing portion configured to bond opposite surfaces of the separator into which the first electrode and the second electrode are inserted with the separator interposed therebetween; and a lead tab configured to include a first current collecting tab connected to the first electrode and a second current collecting tab connected to the second electrode.
