Abstract:
An input display apparatus includes the following elements. A display unit has a display area. A receiver receives plural types of gestures which are performed on the display area. A setting unit sets plural settings for an apparatus in accordance with the types of gestures received by the receiver. A display controller controls the display unit to display at least one of the plural settings and gesture guidance information for guiding an input of a gesture which is associated with the setting to be displayed.
Abstract:
Access-destination information specified by a mobile information terminal is received and an access decision unit (108) determines whether it is possible to access a WWW server on a network specified by the access-destination information. If it has been determined that the WWW server is accessible, the WWW server is accessed and data is acquired via a network communication unit (107), and the data is printed by an image processor (109). If it has been determined that the WWW server is inaccessible, on the other hand, then the mobile information terminal is notified of this fact via the network communication unit (107).
Abstract:
To provide a technology enabling a terminal device to use various functions provided in a data processing device without the use of a device driver. A multifunction device executes a process for implementing a function indicated by instruction data when such instruction data is stored in a shared area of the RAM. Here, the shared area of the RAM in which the instruction data is stored can be recognized by a personal computer connected to the multifunction device as a storage area that can be accessed through the file system, which is a function provided as a standard feature of the operating system. Accordingly, operations of the multifunction device can be controlled from the personal computer end simply by storing instruction data in the shared area via the operating system, eliminating the need for a special device driver to control the operations of the multifunction device.
Abstract:
A system according to the present invention includes a server and a plurality of apparatuses each incorporating a device. The apparatuses control power supply ON and OFF states of the devices in accordance with an instruction from the server. The server collects pieces of operation state information indicating operation states of the apparatuses from the apparatuses, and groups, based on the collected information, the apparatuses into groups which respectively correspond to different operation states and respectively have different priorities. The server further sends an allowance notification indicating a device power supply allowance to apparatuses which belong to respective groups in descending order of priority taking into consideration a parameter associated with power consumption values of apparatuses to which the device power supply allowance is given. Each apparatus sets the device in a power supply ON state when the allowance notification is received from the server.
Abstract:
A method, apparatus, and system for communicating between an apparatus hosting a workflow application and an imaging device, the system including a state engine configured to read and extract data from a first message received from the imaging device, to communicate with an application component, and to advance to a workflow state, a state translator configured to receive the workflow state from the state engine, to convert the workflow state into an imaging device instruction, and to send the imaging device instruction to the imaging device, a state instantiater configured to change a state of a component of the imaging device in accordance with the imaging device instruction, an event responder configured to assemble data in a second message based on the changed state of the component of the imaging device, and an interface configured to send the second message to the apparatus.
Abstract:
A scan system includes a request reception unit that stores a message corresponding to a document processing job in a queue in response to the receipt of an execution request for the document processing job from an image forming apparatus; and a back-end processing unit that makes an acquisition request for the message with respect to the queue at a regular interval, acquires the message, executes a document processing job corresponding to the acquired message, and stores the execution result of the job. Before the image forming apparatus transmits an execution request for a document processing job to the request reception unit, the back-end processing unit acquires information indicating a location at which the execution result of the acquired job is stored, and the request reception unit causes the image forming apparatus to display information indicating a location at which the execution result of the acquired job is stored.
Abstract:
A communication device for interconnecting a digital camera to a communication network for downloading data to a remote computer. The device has a network communication port for establishing communication with a network via a pre-defined protocol and communication mode, and has a camera communication port such as a serial, parallel, SCSI, USB or Irda-port that imitates the back end application of a PC, for connection to a digital camera for sending and receiving data to and from the camera. The camera communication port is also used for input of programming and setup data to the communication device from a PC. The device can be programmed to operate on the data directly, such as in the case of data for storage or operational direction, and/or direct the data to the camera. The device may also have a Smart card socket into which a user can insert a card to input data, such as user and camera I.D., user authorization, image marking, camera operational parameters, remote computer/destination address, etc. The device can be programmed to perform encryption, authentication, watermarking and fingerprinting procedures, as well as structuring the data for transmission over a particular network, and to automatically perform operations, such as at specific times or in response to data input.
Abstract:
A recording apparatus includes a communications device which can receive from another communications apparatus by wireless an image-capturing condition of restricting an image-capturing process or a sound recording condition of restricting a sound recording process, and a device which performs an image-capturing or sound recording process according to the received image-capturing condition or sound recording condition. Thus, a user can automatically set a recording function of a recording apparatus in a restricted state without special care in a position where image-capturing, sound recording, etc. are prohibited, thereby recording on an allowed condition. Since it further includes a communications device which can receive by wireless from another communications apparatus a reproducing condition of restricting a reproducing function of an image, and a reproducing device which reproduces an image according to the received reproducing condition, an available function can be used by easily specifying a user of the communications apparatus.
Abstract:
A method of transmitting data between a transmitter and a receiver each connected to a network, including causing the transmitter to transmit reduced image data, corresponding to image data, and user interface data to the receiver via the network, the reduced image data generated by a data-skipping operation; causing the receiver to output visibly a reduced image and a user interface image represented by the user interface data, when the receiver receives the reduced image data and the user interface data; causing the receiver to transmit a request for transfer of the image data and setting information to the transmitter, when an instruction for transfer of the image data and the setting information is input into the receiver; and causing the transmitter to transmit the image data and at least part of the setting information to at least one of the receiver and an apparatus connected to the network.
