摘要： A device for changing model plates is used in the manufacture of sand molds for foundry molding machines. The vertical axis of the lifting mechanism intersects both the longitudinal axis of the feed mechanism and the pivot field circle of the rotary conveyor for moving the model plates between lifting and molding sites. Model plates can be changed by the device without interrupting the molding machine cycle. Also, the model plates can be positioned outside the molding machine.

摘要： Mold clamping forces are provided by mounting the mold halves between spaced crossheads connected by elastically deformable rods of tensile steel. The crossheads are pulled slightly apart by hydraulic cylinders to expand and tension the rods, and the prepared molds are then inserted together with appropriately dimensioned wedges or shims to occupy the expansion space. When the hydraulic pressure is released the elastic restoration or spring forces of the stretched rods serve to clamp the assembled molds tightly together to enable injection, curing, etc. A plurality of such mold assemblies may be circumferentially spaced around a rotatable turntable, and the various opening and closing movements may be controlled by rollers on the mold components running in stationary cam tracks around the turntable. C-shaped mold clamps may also be used instead of the crosshead and rod configurations.

摘要： A method and apparatus for forming large fiber-reinforced foamed plastic panels is disclosed. The panels are produced by a process comprising filling a flat mold with freshly mixed foam plastic precursors, including fibrous material for reinforcement of the panels, closing the mold until the plastic precursors have foamed and set, then opening the mold and removing the finished panel. The apparatus comprises a platen mounted for traversing under the dispensing outlet of a mixing device, whereby the platen is filled with foamed plastic precursors, and a press into which the platen travels before the mixture has begun to mold. The press is provided with a novel mechanism for closing the mold by placing a cover on top of the platen before the plastic begins to foam. The same mechanism is adapted to open the mold by lifting the platen cover. Thereafter, the platen is moved in a reverse of its entry movement, returning to its starting position for removal of the finished panel. The mechanism for opening and closing the mold is operated by hydraulic operators under the supervision of a sequencing controller which provides a tilting movement during operation, providing for expelling of air during closing of the mold and breaking the surface tension between the platen cover and the finished panel by first raising or peeling one corner of the platen so as not to lift the panel out of the mold.

摘要： In order to provide rapid production of foam sandwich panels of the type utilized in building structures, an upright open top press, which clasps semi-rigid outer panels in spaced relationship, is filled with a quick rising foam by injecting the foam in repetitive horizontal layers using a specially configured gun. The press consists of three essential sections: the two outer members which contain the panel being prepared in the proper configuration without bulges, and a central, removable member which functions to define the bottom and ends of the foam injected between the semi-rigid panels. One of the outer members is mounted on rails to permit ready set up and withdrawal of the press and completed panels. The two outer members of the press are held together during the panel-forming operation by a plurality of snap-over clamps spaced about the periphery.
