Abstract: Disclosed is a process for converting C2-5 alkanes to higher-value C5-24+ hydrocarbon fuels and fuel blendstocks including reacting the C2-5 alkanes in a thermal olefination reactor operating at a temperature, pressure and space velocity to convent the alkanes to olefins and in the absence of both a dehydrogenation catalyst and steam. At least a portion of the product olefin stream is oligomerized using a zeolite catalyst to crack, oligomerize and cyclize the product olefins to form the fuel products, which are then recovered. The process is useful in removing sulfur and nitrogen-based compounds in a single step process, while reducing total costs of processing and eliminating the need for additives used in the field.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are processes for the production of hydrocarbon fuel products from C2-5 alkanes. Methane is converted to ethylene in a methane thermal olefination reactor operating at a temperature of at least 900° C. and a pressure of at least 150 psig, and without a dehydrogenation catalyst or steam. C2-5 alkanes are converted to olefins in a C2-5 thermal olefination reactor operating at a temperature, pressure and space velocity to convert at least 80% of the alkanes to C2-5 olefins. The ethylene and C2-5 olefins are passed through an oligomerization reactor containing a zeolite catalyst and operating at a temperature, pressure and space velocity to crack, oligomerize and cyclize the olefins. In one aspect, methane in the effluent of the oligomerization reactor is recycled through the C2-5 thermal olefination reactor. Methods for the thermal olefination of methane are also disclosed.

Abstract: Gasoline fuel composition suitable for use in an internal combustion engine comprising: (a) Fischer-Tropsch derived naphtha at a level from 2 to 20% v/v; (b) at least one aromatic octane booster present at a level of 0.75 to 8% v/v or less; and (c) a gasoline base fuel; wherein the gasoline fuel composition comprises 40% v/v or less of aromatics. In a preferred embodiment, the Research Octane Number (RON) of the gasoline fuel composition is increased while maintaining the aromatic content of the gasoline fuel composition at a level of 40% v/v or less, based on the gasoline fuel composition.

Abstract: A system for forming blended gasoline from gasoline and butane includes a gasoline inlet configured to receive the gasoline, a butane inlet configured to receive the butane, and a first mixing section in which the gasoline and the butane mix to thereby form a rough blended gasoline. A second mixing section downstream from the first mixing section further mixes the rough blended gasoline with additional amounts of the gasoline or the butane until a final blended gasoline forms in the second mixing section. The final blended gasoline dispenses from the second mixing section via an outlet.
