摘要: A transimpedance amplifier and photodiode that has a bias voltage node established at a bias voltage and a ground node/plane that connects, over a short distance as compared to the prior art, to a photodiode and a transimpedance amplifier. The photodiode is in a substrate and configured to receive and convert an optical signal to an electrical current. The photodiode has an anode terminal and a cathode terminal which is connected to the bias voltage node. One or more capacitors in or on the substrate and connected between the bias node and the ground node. The transimpedance amplifier has an input connected to the anode terminal of the photodiode and an output that presents a voltage representing the optical signal to an output path. The transimpedance amplifier and the photodiode are both electrically connected in a flip chip configuration and the ground plane creates a coplanar waveguide.

摘要: A light detector is provided to include a detection module, and a monitoring SPAD. The detection module includes an SPAD that is an avalanche photodiode operable in Geiger mode; the detection module is configured to perform light detection by applying, to the SPAD, a reverse bias voltage in a reverse direction. The monitoring SPAD has characteristics identical to characteristics of the SPAD in the detection module. The reverse bias voltage is generated to be applied to the SPAD in the detection module based on (i) a reference breakdown voltage set from a breakdown voltage generated across the monitoring SPAD in Geiger mode and (ii) a predetermined excess voltage.

摘要: In a preamplifier (amplifier) for the radiation detector, an interconnection layer connected to the bonding pad forms one electrode of a feedback capacitor. Since there is no wiring for connecting the bonding pad and capacitor, a parasitic capacitance caused by the wiring will not be generated. Moreover, the capacitor is arranged below the bonding pad with a conductive layer serving as the other electrode, so that the feedback capacitance of the capacitor is included in the parasitic capacitance between the interconnection layer and the substrate. Compared to the conventional case, an amount of capacitance corresponding to the parasitic capacitance caused by wiring and the feedback capacitance for the capacitor is reduced from the input capacitance. Thus, the input capacitance for the amplifying circuit is reduced.

摘要: A spectrometer engine and an adjustment method thereof are provided. The spectrometer engine includes a connector, a light sensor, a variable gain amplifier, a variable reference voltage generation circuit, an analog-to-digital converter and a control circuit. The light sensor senses a light to be measured coming from an object to be measured to generate a sensing signal. The variable gain amplifier amplifies the sensing signal according to a first setting parameter to generate an amplified signal. The variable reference voltage generation circuit provides a reference voltage according to a second setting parameter. The analog-to-digital converter converts the amplified signal to a digital signal according to the reference voltage. The control circuit reads the digital signal and adjusts at least one of the first to third setting parameters according to the digital signal for the spectrometer engine to measure the object to be measured again to generate another digital signal.

摘要: Methods and systems for process and temperature compensation in a transimpedance amplifier using a dual replica and configurable impedances is disclosed and may include a transimpedance amplifier (TIA) circuit comprising a first TIA, a second TIA, a third TIA, and a control loop. The first TIA comprises a fixed feedback resistance and the second and third TIAs each comprise a configurable feedback impedance. The system may comprise a gain stage with inputs coupled to outputs of the first and second TIAs and with an output coupled to the configurable feedback impedance of the second and third TIAs. The circuit may be operable to configure a gain level of the first TIA based on the fixed feedback resistance and a reference current applied at an input to the first TIA, and configure a gain level of the second and third TIAs based on a control voltage generated by the gain stage.
