Abstract: A proactive pedal algorithm is used to modify an accelerator pedal map to ensure the deceleration when the accelerator pedal is released matches driver expectation. Modifying the accelerator pedal map provides the driver of a vehicle the sensation that the vehicle resists moving when travelling in dense scenes with potentially high deceleration requirements and coasts easily in scenes with low deceleration requirements. The accelerator pedal map is modified based on a scene determination to classify other remote vehicles as in-lane, neighbor-lane, or on-coming.

Abstract: A 3-D printer apparatus (three-dimensional printer apparatus) includes a bottom structure of a tank. The tank defines a printing area located above and spaced apart from the bottom structure. The bottom structure includes oxygen releasing electrodes. A resin curing device is configured to selectively provide light to the printing area. The electronic controller controls operation of the resin curing device and the oxygen releasing electrodes. The electronic controller selectively operates areas of the oxygen releasing electrodes thereby releasing oxygen to predetermined locations below the printing area in order to temporarily prevent the polymerization of a polymerizable resin within predetermined locations of the printing area during the printing process.

Abstract: Route planning for a hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) includes obtaining respective engine activation actions for at least some road segments of a route between an origin and a destination by optimizing for at least one of a noise level or energy consumption of an engine of the HEV that is used to charge a battery of the HEV. The HEV is then controlled to follow the at least some of the road segments of the route and to activate the engine according to the respective engine activation actions. Controlling the HEV to follow the at least some of the road segments includes masking at least one of the respective engine activation actions for a current road segment by increasing a volume of an entertainment system of the HEV.

Abstract: A vehicle receives sensor data from at least one of its sensors as it approaches an intersection and determines whether a traffic flow control device for the intersection is detected. When detected, a detected type, a detected state, or both of the traffic flow control device is determined. Using a type of the intersection, at least one of an existing type or an existing state of the traffic flow control device is determined, where the traffic flow control device is undetected or the detected type, the detected state, or both are determined with a detection confidence less than a defined level of detection confidence. The traffic flow control device is tagged with a label including its location and existing type, the existing state, or both within at least one control system for the vehicle. The vehicle is operated within vehicle transportation network using a control system that incorporates the label.

Abstract: A vehicle interior lighting assembly includes a roof structure, a headliner and a light source. The roof structure has a lower surface portion located inboard of the outer periphery. The headliner is supported to the outer periphery of vehicle roof structure. The headliner has a central opening defined by an inner edge portion of the headliner. The opening exposes a portion of the roof structure. The inner edge portion of the headliner is spaced apart from the lower surface portion of the vehicle roof structure such that a gap is defined between the vehicle roof structure and inner edge portion of the headliner. The light source is installed to the lower surface portion of the vehicle roof structure such that when the light source is illuminated, light is emitted through the gap between the vehicle roof structure and inner edge portion of the headliner.

Abstract: A vehicle door structure includes inner and outer door panels, a door handle assembly and an impact pad. The inner door panel has an access opening that extends from an inboard surface to an outboard surface. The door handle assembly has a base portion overlaying an inboard surface of the outer door panel within a door cavity and a lever portion extending along an outboard surface of the outer door panel. The impact pad has a block portion and a projecting portion that extends from the block portion. The block portion overlays and contacts a portion of the outboard surface of the inner door panel adjacent to the access opening. The block portion is in vertical alignment with a portion of the base portion of the door handle. The projecting portion spans a horizontally measured width of the access opening.
