Processes are described herein for preparing medical devices and other articles having a low-fouling surface on a substrate comprising a polymeric surface. The polymeric surface material may possess a range of polymeric backbones and substituents while providing the articles with a highly efficient, biocompatible, and non-fouling surface. The processes involve treating the substrate to reduce the concentration of chemical species on the surface of or in the substrate without altering the bulk physical properties of the device or article, and thereafter forming a grafted polymer layer on the treated substrate surface.

Novel heterocyclic aromatic compounds are provided that are useful in stimulating endogenous production or release of growth hormone, said compounds having the general structure of formula I wherein R1, R1′, R2, R3, R4, Xa, Y, Z and n are as described herein. The compounds provided herein are useful in treating obesity, osteoporosis (improving bone density) and in improving muscle mass and muscle strength.

Methods and apparatus to limit reporting of neighbor cell measurements are disclosed. An example method disclosed herein for a wireless device to perform measurements in a mobile communication network comprises receiving configuration information for periodic downlink pilot measurements to be performed by the wireless device, the configuration information including an upper limit on a number of neighbor cells for which periodic downlink pilot measurements are permitted to be reported, and performing the periodic downlink pilot measurements in accordance with the configuration information.

Systems, apparatuses, and methods performed as part of a wireless communications network include determining a downlink (DL) hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) timing for a first component carrier and a second component carrier, the first component carrier having a different DL HARQ timing configuration than the second component carrier. A physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) resource can be identified for the second component carrier. An indicator of the PUCCH resource can be sent to a user equipment.

Systems, apparatuses, and methods of a wireless communications network include identifying a first downlink control channel. The possibility of an acknowledgement/negative acknowledgement (ACK/NACK) resource collision on a first uplink control channel is determined for a first component carrier and a second uplink control channel for a second carrier component. A second downlink control channel can be identified to avoid the ACK/NACK resource collision.
Abstract:
A system and method for broadcasting content includes a content provider which interfaces with one or more clients through a network. The content provider includes a scheduler responsive to requests for content from clients. The scheduler provides the content in blocks by making the blocks available to requesters by a plurality of streams wherein a subsequent requester accesses blocks from previous requester's streams complemented by a subset of blocks as a stream for this requester to complete an entire set of blocks for the subsequent requester. By manipulating the scheduler as a function of user requests, this system and method is able to provide a video on demand service at a fractional bandwidth usage of a conventional VOD system.

An electronic apparatus such as an audio apparatus, television signal receiver, or other apparatus provides an equalizer interface that enables equalizer settings to be adjusted via acoustic user feedback. According to an exemplary embodiment, the electronic apparatus includes a sound generator for generating a first tone for a first frequency band. A processor enables a user to adjust a first volume level of the first tone. A memory stores the first volume level for the first frequency band. A volume controller applies the first volume level to output signals in the first frequency band.

In some implementations, a method of wireless communications between a wireless communications network and wireless user equipment includes receiving, using a primary Time Division Duplex (TDD) configuration, data on a primary component carrier in a first frequency band. Using a secondary TDD configuration, data on a secondary component carrier is received in a second frequency band different from the first frequency band. A Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) for data received on the secondary component carrier is transmitted using a supplemental TDD configuration. A transmission or retransmission on the secondary component carrier uses a supplemental TDD configuration as well. The supplemental TDD configuration is different from the secondary TDD configuration. Furthermore, an uplink supplemental configuration may be different from a downlink supplemental configuration.

An electronic device includes a display module, a function key, a motion sensor, a determination module, and a regulation module. The motion sensor is operable to acquire a coordinate of the electronic device. The determination module is operable to determine whether the electronic device is in the upright position based on the coordinate. The regulation module regulates backlight brightness of the display module when the function key is operative and the specific application is not executed when the electronic device is in the upright position.

A method, device and system for managing resources in networks are provided, which relate to the field of data communication. The method includes the following steps. A resource manager (RM) sends a first request message according to a received resource request message, to request an access node (AN) to perform admission control. After receiving an admission control result indicating whether a resource requested by the resource request message is admitted, the RM sends a response message of the resource request message. Therefore, when multicast/unicast connection admission control (CAC) that supports shared bandwidth is realized, flow fusions of user line configuration between the AN and a broadband remote access system (BRAS, and policy distribution between a resource and admission control subsystem (RACS) and the BRAS are guaranteed; and sharing of bandwidth resources is realized to avoid waste of the bandwidth resources.
