Taking a stroke within a period from when an operation of a brake operating member is started to when a predetermined stroke operation is performed as an ineffective stroke in which the master cylinder pressure is not generated, a control means controls an amount of differential pressure formed by a differential control valve such that a hydraulic braking force that corresponds to a stroke of the brake operating member is generated during the ineffective stroke, and even after the stroke of the brake operating member exceeds the ineffective stroke, increases the wheel cylinder pressure by performing raising of the amount of differential pressure formed by the differential pressure control valve by a predetermined raising amount with respect to the amount of differential pressure during the ineffective stroke.

Rotational motion of a shaft member rotationally driven by a motor is converted by a screw member into translational motion of a pressing member. An outer periphery of a cap member is brought into slide contact with a first cylindrical part of the pressing member so that the cap member is relatively movable in an axial direction of the pressing member and is relatively unrotatable about its axis. An inner periphery of the cap member is brought into slide contact with a second cylindrical part of the shaft member so that the cap member is relatively movable in an axial direction of the shaft member and is relatively rotatable about its axis. The first cylindrical part, the second cylindrical part, and the cap member partition a storage chamber connected to one end of the screw member, and a lubricant for lubricating the screw member is filled inside the storage chamber.

A hydraulic damper disposed in a discharge-side passage of a hydraulic pump comprises a bladder made of elastic material and formed into a cylindrical shape, a core, and a plug. The bladder includes a spherical closed end portion at its one end and an open end portion at its the other end. The open end portion includes an annular flange portion extending outwardly in the radial direction. The core includes an inserted portion to be inserted into the bladder and an annular flange portion extending outwardly in the radial direction so as to contact with an end face of the open end portion of the bladder. The inserted portion has a large-diameter portion, a small-diameter portion and a gradually-changing diameter portion formed between the large-diameter portion and the small-diameter portion and forming an air chamber in the bladder together with the small chamber.

A brake fluid pressure controlling actuator is equipped with a block, an electric device secured to the block, and a casing attached to the block, and a board support with a stay. The brake fluid pressure controlling actuator is designed to have the board support disposed in the casing and also have a circuit board placed in contact with the stay of the board support. The stay of the board support serves to firmly hold a portion of the circuit board around a through-hole formed in the circuit board when a terminal of an electric device is press-fitted into the through-hole, thereby minimizing the degree of bending of the circuit board to ensure the stability in electrically connecting the electric device to the circuit board.

The first housing includes an outer housing and an inner housing. The inner housing is assembled to be movable in the fitting direction and is provided with the first fitting portion. The inner housing is provided with a pressing rib. Between the pressing rib and outer housing, a second seal member is provided for sealing between the outer and inner housings. The electric parking brake driving device includes an electric motor and a reduction gear mechanism which transmits driving force of the electric motor to the parking brake actuator. The reduction gear mechanism includes a gear body and a planetary gear mechanism, which is provided within the gear body and into which the driving force of the electric motor is inputted. A cushion rubber, which is compressible in the circumferential direction, is interposed between a ring gear of the planetary gear mechanism and the gear body.
