Abstract:
Improved alumina-zirconia composite sintered materials with sufficient high mechanical strength and thermal shock resistance as well as excellent hardwearing resistance are made by mixing, heating and melting zirconia and alumina, then the produced melt was quenched, and the resulting solid was ground and milled while adding thereto at least one compound of ceria and/or titania, to an average grain size of from about 0.5 to about 1.5 .mu.m, and subjected the resulting powder to molding and sintering at a temperature of from 1450.degree. to about 1600.degree. C., said zirconia, ceria and titania being employed in the amount of about 10-20%, about 3-7%, and about 15-25% by weight, respectively, plus the balance of alumina. Said sintered materials are useful for employment in structural materials, refractorial materials, erosion resistance materials, cutting tool materials, grinding and polishing materials, etc.

A machine for connecting an end of an optical fiber cable (1) to an optical fiber connector (2) comprises a stripping mechanism (10) that strips an end of a jacket (1b) from an end of the optical fiber cable (1) to expose an end of a fiber core (1a), a connector-connecting mechanism (30) which inserts the stripped end of the optical fiber cable (1) into a hole (2a) in the optical fiber connector (2) and connects the cable (1) with the connector (2), a core-cutting mechanism (60) which cuts the length of the fiber core (1a) protruding from the front end of the connector (2) leaving a tiny length of protruding fiber core (1a), and a core-finishing mechanism (70) which finishes the end surface of the protruding tiny length of fiber core (1a).
Abstract:
An extruded string of marshmallow material is powdered and conveyed to a pair of scallop surfaced cutter drums which are synchronously rotated in opposite directions and simultaneously axially reciprocated relative to each other, whereby the string is pinch or squeeze severed into individual marshmallows. A rounded form is implemented by each marshmallow being rolled in the tube formed by a pair of facing scallop grooves of the reciprocating drums during its temporary presence therein. If a filler of jam or the like is extruded within the string, the pinch severing tends to sealingly force the relatively viscous marshmallow material over the ends of the filler pocket to thereby prevent the escape and leakage of the filler.
Abstract:
The technical problem to be solved is to change the thickness of the colored resin layer of the preform gradually in the upward or downward direction, by utilizing a tendency of gradual decrease in the thickness of the colored resin layer caused by the flow of the main resin inside the preform mold when the main resin and the colored resin are injected into the mold. This involves adjusting the injection pattern including the time of starting and ending the supply of the main resin and the colored resin, and pressure or velocity profiles, reducing the thickness of the colored resin layer gradually upstream or downstream, injection-molding the preform in which a color-gradated portion associated with the thickness of the colored resin layer has been formed, and biaxially drawing and blow molding this preform into a bottle having a color-gradated portion.
Abstract:
The technical problem to be solved by the invention is to change the thickness of the colored resin layer of the preform gradually in the upward or downward direction, by utilizing a tendency of gradual decrease in the thickness of the colored resin layer caused by the flow of the main resin inside the preform mold when the main resin and the colored resin are injected into the mold. The objects of this invention is to provide a biaxially drawn, blow molded bottle having new decorativeness created in which sophisticated color gradations associated with color density are created in the body of this bottle. The means of accomplishing this object involves adjusting the injection pattern including the time of starting and ending the supply of the main resin and the colored resin, and pressure or velocity profiles, reducing the thickness of the colored resin layer in the multi-layered molten resin fluid gradually at an upstream or downstream point of the flow, injection-molding the preform in which a color-gradated portion associated with the thickness of the colored resin layer has been formed, and biaxially drawing and blow molding this preform into a bottle having a color-gradated portion associated with the color density or color shade created on the body of the bottle.
Abstract:
A control device for an internal combustion engine comprising: a knocking sensor for detecting a knocking signal of the internal combustion engine; a band pass filter for extracting a knocking signal of a predetermined frequency band from the output signal of the knocking sensor; a high pass filter comprising a capacitor and a resistor for extracting an AC component from the output of the band pass filter; a rectifying circuit having a one-way conducting element and a resistor for achieving positive half waves from the AC output of the high pass filter; and a peak hold circuit for detecting a peak value from positive half wave pulses output from the rectifying circuit, holding the peak value for a predetermined time and outputting the peak value to ignition timing control means, wherein the one-way conducting element of the rectifying circuit is constructed as a negative voltage clipping means for achieving positive half waves by short-circuiting negative half waves, and also with respect to each of the circuit elements constituting the high pass filter and the rectifying circuit, each constant thereof is set so that the charging time constant and the discharging time constant to the capacitor are equal to each other.
Abstract:
In a pretensioner for a webbing retractor, an upper wall portion of a sealing member extends arcuately around an external periphery of a seal holding portion which is formed integrally with a bottom surface of a piston, and the sealing member includes a side wall portion proximate an inner wall of a cylinder. The sealing member is formed from an elastic material, and may be annular or a ring with an angle of 360 degrees or more. In an emergency state of a vehicle, when the piston is moved by gas pressure, the sealing member is pressed against the bottom surface of the piston by gas pressure, and a diameter of the sealing member is increased. Accordingly, the sealing member provides sealing between the piston and the inner wall of the cylinder.
Abstract:
The shock absorber mechanism for a bicycle (10) is a device mounted between the handlebar stem (4) and fork stem (5) of a bicycle and includes a sleeve case (11), a spring (18), and a free cushion bushing (20). The sleeve case (11) is mounted to the lower edge of the handlebar stem (4) and joins when the upper portion of said fork stem (5) slides freely and does not rotate. The spring (18) is arranged between the sleeve case (11) and the fork stem (5). The free cushion bushing (20) is mounted to the lower edge of the sleeve case (11) and can be freely installed and removed as well as slide on the outer peripheral surface of the fork stem (5) controls relative movement of the handlebar stem (4) and the fork stem (5) caused by friction on the outer peripheral surface of the fork stem (5). One purpose of the present invention is to allow for easy adjustment of the dampening characteristics of a dampener depending on bicycle riding conditions and rider requirements.
