Abstract: A method and a system of lighting nodes having a core node and sensor pods is described. A core node, representing a master device, is positioned within a luminaire housing to enable lighting control for the luminaire. At least one peripheral device representing an integrated sensor pod, an external sensor pod, or a video node. Each of the peripheral devices representing a slave device and includes one or more sensors for detecting conditions. A pod bus, representing a master-slave bus, enables power signals to be transmitted to each of the peripheral devices. The pod bus also enables the core node to query each of the peripheral devices and each of the peripheral devices to respond to a query from the core node.

Abstract: A modular lighting system for controlling light output and direction in a pole top luminaire includes a base. Lighting modules which have LEDs mounted on a heat sink include pairs of heat pipes extending from the heat sink plug into the base. Openings in the base receive the heat pipes to support the lighting modules in a desired orientation, enabling location specific customized orientation. The assembly allows universal replacement of pole top luminaires with efficient LED light engines, yet without need for custom parts, thus enabling a wide variety of applications for the lighting modules.

Abstract: A system for enabling controlled plant growth of plants in containers includes linear tracks spaced apart from each other by intervening supporting plates. Each track includes an array of blue and red LEDs affixed to a heat sink which can slide along the track to be positioned in a desired arrangement to the container beneath it. A controller for the LEDs is positioned between every other pair of tracks to control adjacent arrays of LEDs. The controller controls the LEDs to provide light of desired intensity and wavelength to the plants in the containers.

Abstract: A method for a computing device calculates savings information associated with a lighting infrastructure application framework. The method comprises receiving, at the computing device, data from a lighting infrastructure, the data including at least one of sensor data and controller information related to at least one of a sensor and a controller; calculating savings information associated with management and a use of the plurality of lighting node platform devices. One embodiment, the data includes real time energy usage data from a plurality of lighting node platform devices within the lighting infrastructure application framework. The method automatically calculates energy savings information and carbon credit information based on the calculated energy savings information. The energy and carbon credit information are associated with the management and the use of the plurality of lighting node platform devices, and transmits a request for carbon credits based on the calculated carbon credit information.

Abstract: A method and associated apparatus are disclosed for measuring illumination characteristics of a luminaire having unknown characteristics. The method includes steps of providing an array of calibrated photodetectors in known locations in proximity to a mounting location, and then illuminating the array with a luminaire having unknown illumination properties. The resulting data is used to calculate the luminous intensity vs. angle from the luminaire and the luminous flux of the luminaire. Methods of calibrating the measurement with a known luminaire are presented along with methods of determining the angular position of the detectors in the array. Color-sensitive detectors can be used to determine the angular distribution and average value of the luminaire's correlated color temperature.

Abstract: In one example, a method is provided for a computing device to distribute software related to a lighting infrastructure application framework. An example method comprises receiving, at the computing device, the software, storing the received software in relation to a provider of the software, transmitting the software to destination devices in response to receiving a request, calculating at least one of a fee and a revenue in response to transmitting the software, and transmitting a message indicating a value of the fee or the revenue, wherein the message is transmitted to one of the application provider and the lighting infrastructure owner.

Abstract: In one example, a sensor node comprises a core node to enable lighting control for a luminaire. The core node has a base forming a plug portion of a socket. The plug portion has at least one optional pin and represents a NEMA socket including a receptacle that is attached to the base of the core node such that the core node is enclosed by the NEMA socket. The socket provides light level control for a light-emitting diode (LED) driver for the luminaire. The sensor node further comprises one or more peripheral devices having sensors for detecting conditions and producing sensor information based on the detected conditions. The sensor node also includes a pod bus which enables power signals to be transmitted to each of the peripheral devices.
