    摘要: An optical pickup apparatus and method for recording and/or reproducing information onto and/or from optical discs having diverse specifications. Particularly, a diffraction grating for use in the optical pickup apparatus includes a substrate for refracting an output beam from a laser diode at a predetermined refractive index, a liquid crystal for refracting the beam, which is transmitted through the substrate, at a different refractive index and direction according to a track pitch of the optical disc, an electrode material for supplying power to the liquid crystal, and a switch for controlling power supply to the electrode material. Electrode materials are aligned with various spacing in order to change the refractive index of the liquid crystal according to the wavelength of a laser and the specification of an optical disc used. Also, power supply to the electrode materials is controlled depending on the optical disc specification.

    摘要: An optical pick-up apparatus for reproducing information recorded on an optical recording medium or recording information on the optical recording medium is provided. The optical pick-up apparatus includes a light source unit which generates beams; a diffraction element which diffracts the generated beams; and an objective lens which focuses a p order diffracted beam which is used for recording and reproducing information among a plurality of diffracted beams which are diffracted by the diffraction element on any one of a plurality of information layers which are formed on an optical recording medium. A p±1 order diffracted beam which is not used for recording and reproducing information is focused away from the plurality of information recording layers and on the surface of the optical recording medium.

    摘要: Provided are an apparatus and method for efficiently computing a log likelihood ratio (LLR) using the maximum a posteriori (MAP) algorithm known as block combining. The method includes the steps of: calculating alpha values, beta values and gamma values of at least two time sections; calculating transition probabilities of respective states in the at least two time sections; performing a comparison operation for some of the transition probabilities to determine the highest value, selecting one of the other transition probabilities according to the determined high value, comparing the determined value with the selected value to select the higher value, and thereby obtaining the highest of the transition probabilities; and determining an operation to apply according to the highest transition probability and calculating an LLR.

    摘要: An optical pickup apparatus and method for recording and/or reproducing information onto and/or from optical discs having diverse specifications. Particularly, a diffraction grating for use in the optical pickup apparatus includes a substrate for refracting an output beam from a laser diode at a predetermined refractive index, a liquid crystal for refracting the beam, which is transmitted through the substrate, at a different refractive index and direction according to a track pitch of the optical disc, an electrode material for supplying power to the liquid crystal, and a switch for controlling power supply to the electrode material. Electrode materials are aligned with various spacing in order to change the refractive index of the liquid crystal according to the wavelength of a laser and the specification of an optical disc used. Also, power supply to the electrode materials is controlled depending on the optical disc specification.

The power amplifier includes an input impedance matcher for impedance-matching a signal input from the outside; a high-power amplifier and a low-power amplifier for amplifying the signal having passed through the input impedance matcher; an amplification controller controlling the high-power amplifier and low-power amplifier according to the power level of the input signal; an output impedance matcher for impedance-matching the signal amplified by the high-power amplifier and low-power amplifier; and a dynamic voltage supplier for supplying the low-power amplifier with a variable driving voltage. With the constitution set forth above, linearity at peak output power is maintained, and efficiency increases in the most frequently used range, thereby enabling the battery of a handheld to last longer.

    摘要: Provided is a demodulator circuit allowing a tag or transponder to efficiently recover data of an input amplitude signal at very low power in a wireless communication system such as a radio frequency identification (RFID) system. The demodulator connects an output of a voltage multiplier to a low-current path by capacitive coupling, thereby recovering data. Therefore, data is recovered, at low power, from an input amplitude signal having a low modulation depth, and it is possible to increase a communication distance.
