摘要: Implants and methods for treating ocular disorders are described. One method involves providing an elongated delivery device and an implant mounted at a distal end of the delivery device. An incision is formed in eye tissue and the implant is inserted the through the incision using the delivery device. The implant is implanted at a location communicating with a physiologic outflow pathway of an eye such that a distal end portion of the implant and a proximal end portion of the delivery device are relatively disposed in a non-linear orientation during implantation. In one method, the implant is non-linear after insertion.

摘要: An expandable stent that can transform between a collapsed state and an expanded state is described. The stent includes a first cross-sectional shape and a second cross-sectional shape. The first cross-sectional shape is a non-convex shape when the stent is in the collapsed state. Alternatively, the second cross-sectional shape is a convex shape when the stent is in an expanded state. The stent can be formed of super elastic Nitinol, which allows it to be shape set in the desired shape. Due to its shape setting properties and the non-convex cross-section, the stent is capable of dramatically reducing its cross-sectional radial profile which is beneficial in a variety of procedures.

摘要: Nano-carbon material is described that combines the common and unique properties of spherical fullerenes, carbon nanotubes and graphene carbon allotropes to create an architecture that has unique mechanical and electrical properties. The combined tensile strength of graphene with the compressive strength of fullerenes attached to nanotubes creates a high strength material. By attaching fullerenes to nanotubes, the surface area of the material is greatly enhanced beyond the high surface area normally associated with vertically aligned nanotube arrays. Fabrication can be performed via several complementary methods including catalyst deposition, hydrocarbon chemical vapor deposition, and surface functionalization. The fabrication of the NTC is based on its sub-composites: graphene-nanotubes and nanotubes-fullerenes and their respective fabrication processes.

摘要: A device and method for three-dimensional (3-D) imaging using a defocusing technique is disclosed. The device comprises a lens having a substantially oblong aperture, a sensor operable for capturing light transmitted from an object through the lens and the substantially oblong aperture, and a processor communicatively connected with the sensor for processing the sensor information and producing a 3-D image of the object. The aperture may have an asymmetrical shape for distinguishing objects in front of versus in back of the focal plane. The aperture may also be rotatable, where the orientation of the observed pattern relative to the oblong aperture is varied with time thereby removing the ambiguity generated by image overlap. The disclosed device further comprises a light projection system configured to project a predetermined pattern onto a surface of the desired object thereby allowing for mapping of unmarked surfaces in three dimensions.

摘要: A sterile surgical procedure bag allows for rapid preparation of a surgical procedure while ensuring the sterility of the patient and the surgical instruments. The three dimensional shape of the bag creates a sterile space within which a surgical procedure may be performed. Sterile Instruments needed to perform the surgical procedure are secured to the interior of the bag in an organized and easily accessible way. The bag is attached to the surgical site. The bag further comprises openings for insertion of hands covered with sterile gloves into it, or the sterile instruments can be reached and manipulated through the bag's wall.
