摘要: A disk drive is disclosed comprising a disk, a head, and a voice coil motor (VCM) for actuating the head over the disk. The disk drive executes a rotational position optimization (RPO) algorithm to select a next command to execute relative to an estimated seek time computed for each command in a command queue. A motor capability of the VCM is estimated and used to modify the estimated seek time for each command in the command queue to thereby optimize the RPO algorithm.

摘要: A software frustration detection system interposed between software and a user, receives interactions indicative of user frustration (e.g., a user accessing in-product help, a user performing a sequence of actions but not clicking “submit”, a user canceling operations, etc.). Due to privacy concerns, the system may not gain access to substantive data of the interaction. Based upon characteristics of detected interaction(s), the system is configured calculate a frustration score, and then provide user support based upon that score. In particular, a support subsystem may locate various possible sources of support (e.g., user blogs, demonstrations, IT department contact), connect to those support services, and then provide appropriate support to a user. The system may operate in an iterative manner, with increasing frustration revealed by subsequent user actions, being met with an escalating intensity of support provided. Certain embodiments may operate based upon active user feedback to the provided support.

摘要: Novel phototherapeutic methods and compositions are described herein. Nanoparticle-assembled microcapsules as a new type of delivery vehicle for photosensitive compounds may be synthesized through a two-step assembly process. Charged polymer chains and counterions may be combined with a photosensitive compound to form photosensitive aggregates, and then nanoparticles may be combined with the aggregates to form the microcapsules. The shell may be composed of nanoparticles and/or polymer, and the core interior may contain the photosensitive compound. Formation occurs rapidly (on the order of seconds) and the conditions are very mild (at room temperature, in aqueous solution, and at neutral pH). The microcapsule synthesis is highly suitable as an encapsulation method, particularly for a charged photosensitive molecule like ICG.

摘要: A hands-free voice communication apparatus includes a speakerphone and earpiece combo, a digital signal processing (DSP) module, and a communication module. The hands-free apparatus may be used as a speakerphone or an earpiece. The speakerphone and earpiece combo includes a loudspeaker and one or multiple microphones. The loudspeaker provides an acoustic output. Each microphone receives an acoustic input and provides an input signal. The DSP module performs digital signal processing on the input signals from the microphones and provides an output signal for the loudspeaker. The DSP module may perform digital signal processing with different sets of parameters for the speakerphone and earpiece modes. The communication module provides communication between the hands-free apparatus and a communication device, e.g., a cellular phone or a wireless PDA.

摘要: The present invention is a system and method for reconciling results returned from a multi-protocol scan of a NAS system. Certain NAS systems use different protocols. Some may use the NFS protocol, whereas others may use the CIFS protocol. A scan of the NAS may therefore produce two data object names for a single data object. When a storage virtualization system is tasked with acting as an intermediary between the client and the NAS, these two data object names will cause errors during data migration, synchronization or redirection. The present invention is a method for using the results of a multi-protocol scan of the NAS in order to reconcile data object names that may present differently depending on the protocol applied.
