    Abstract: Systems, methods and instrumentalities may be provided for handling a user plane in a wireless communication system. The wireless communication system may be characterized by a flexible air interface. One aspect of the flexible air interface is that transmissions by a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) in the system may have different quality of service (QoS) requirements, such as different latency requirements. The WTRU may adjust its behaviors based on the QoS requirements, e.g., by utilizing preconfigured resources, resource requests, self-scheduling, and/or the like, such that the transmissions may be performed in accordance with their respective QoS requirements.

    Abstract: In a network comprising both fixed transmission points and mobile transmission points, the transmission points may transmit discovery reference signals that allow WTRUs to detect and/or synchronize to the transmission points. The fixed and mobile transmission points may transmit discovery reference signals with different characteristics that allow the WTRUs to distinguish between fixed and mobile transmission points. The mobile transmission points may also transmit a separate maintenance reference signal that allows WTRUs to maintain a connection with the mobile transmission point. For networks in which fixed a mobile transmission points operate in different frequency bands, the mobile transmission points may also periodically transmit discovery beacon signals in the frequency band of the fixed transmission points to allow discovery. Conditions may be imposed on WTRUs before the WTRU will transmit to the network a measurement report reporting on a potential transmission point to which it may be switched. Such conditions may include the speed of a WTRU relative to the transmission point with which it is currently associated, the speed of the WTRU relative to the newly discovered transmission point or both.

    Abstract: Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are disclosed for a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) receiving a first set of one or more initial access signals from a Transmission/Reception Point (TRP), wherein the first set of one or more initial access signals indicates that the TRP is in a dormant state, sending an echo signal to the TRP, wherein one or more transmission parameters of the echo signal are derived from the first set of one or more initial access signals received from the TRP, monitoring for a second set of one or more initial access signals from the TRP after transmitting the echo signal, and receiving the second set of one or more initial access signals, the second set of initial access signals comprising information associated with accessing the TRP. Sets of one or more initial access signals may be received from a plurality of TRPs in an area. The second set of one or more initial access signals may be received from a TRP that is closest to, or has a strongest signal strength for transmitting to, the WTRU.

    Abstract: The WTRU may determine that one or more data units correspond to a flow of such data units. The WTRU may perform such determination as a function of one or more matching rule(s). Flow-based processing may be enabled in the layer 2/layer 1 chain by per-packet determination using one or more rules, for example by routing through the applicable processing functions and/or using the applicable configuration and/or mapping to the applicable uplink physical layer functions and/or resources. One or more functions such as scheduling request, buffer status reporting, HARQ processing, and/or radio link failure and recovery may be controlled based on the policy associated with the flow corresponding to the data being processed.

    Abstract: A method for transmitting data using a two-phase cooperation that includes a first sharing phase and a second cooperative phase is provided. In an embodiment, a method for cooperative data transmission performed by a first WTRU is disclosed. The method includes receiving, by the first WTRU from an eNB, cooperative set configuration information including a cooperative set identification. In the sharing phase, the first WTRU may receive from the eNB, a resource assignment for a first data transmission. During the sharing phase, the first data transmission may be transmitted using resources indicated in the received resource assignment. A second data transmission may be received from a second WTRU during the sharing phase. On a condition the second data transmission is successfully received by the first WTRU, a third data transmission may be transmitted, in cooperation with the second WTRU, during the cooperative phase.

A flexible radio access communication system may be supported using spectrum of varying size, including aggregation of non-adjacent carriers in the same and/or in different frequency bands. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may receive a first transmission via a common downlink control channel. The first transmission may include first control information. The first control information may include information regarding the configuration of a first dedicated downlink control channel of one or more dedicated control channels. The WTRU may receive a second transmission via the first dedicated downlink control channel of the dedicated control channels. The second transmission may include second control information. The second control information may be associated with a transmission of a first transmission type. The dedicated downlink control channels may be used for providing control information associated with different types of transmissions.

    Abstract: A WTRU may receive downlink control information (DCI) indicating a start of a frame. The DCI may be received on a control channel, such as the Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH) from an eNB, base station, AP, or other infrastructure equipment operating in a wireless communications system. The WTRU may decode the DCI and may determine a transmit time interval (TTI) duration, which may be expressed in terms of an integer number of basic time intervals (BTIs). The WTRU may determine a downlink (DL) transmission portion and assignment and an uplink (UL) transmission portion and UL grant based on the received DCI. Additionally, the WTRU may determine the start of the UL portion based on an offset (toffset). The WTRU may receive data in a DL portion of the frame and may transmit in an UL portion of the frame based on the determined UL grant and TTI duration.
