Abstract: Methods and apparatus for boot time reduction in a processor and programmable logic device environment are disclosed. An example apparatus includes a multicore processor including a first core and a second core. A bootstrap processor is to initialize the first core into a standby mode and initialize the second core into a non-standby mode. A programmable logic device is to be programmed with instructions to be executed by the programmable logic device by the second core via a first connection initialized by the second core. The bootstrap processor is to, upon completion of the programming of the programmable logic device, initialize a data connection between the programmable logic device and the second core.

Abstract: Technologies for media protection policy enforcement include a computing device having multiple operating systems and a data storage device partitioned into a number of regions. During execution of each of the operating systems, a policy enforcement module may intercept media access requests and determine whether to allow the media access requests based on platform media access policies. The media access policies may allow requests based on the identity of the executing operating system, the region of the data storage device, or the requested storage operation. Prior to loading a selected operating system, a firmware policy enforcement module may determine a region of the disk storage device to protect from the selected operating system. The firmware policy enforcement module may configure the data storage device to prevent access to that region. The media access policies may be stored in one or more firmware variables. Abstract: Systems, apparatuses and methods may provide for technology that detects an over current condition associated with a voltage regulator in a computing system, identifies a configurable over current protection policy associated with the voltage regulator, and automatically takes a protective action based on the configurable over current protection policy. In one example, the protective action includes one or more of a frequency throttle of a processor coupled to the voltage regulator in isolation from one or more additional processors in the computing system, a deactivation of the processor in isolation from the one or more additional processors, an issuance of a virtual machine monitor notification, an issuance of a data center fleet manager notification, or an initiation of a migration of a workload from the processor to at least one of the additional processor(s).
