摘要: The present invention features a high-quality audio frequency loudspeaker system utilizing an array of tweeters placed in vertical alignment along an axis. The tweeter array, containing a plurality of tweeters, is mounted on a tweeter baffle board which may be reoriented by a user, so that the speaker system may be positioned in either a horizontal or a vertical orientation relative to the floor or other supporting surface. Reorientation of the tweeter array, in conjunction with other novel features, allows the speaker system to meet horizontal and vertical radiation pattern specifications for home theaters.

摘要: A cartridge for dispensing metered amounts of liquid electrophotography toner concentrate. The cartridge comprises first and second endcaps within a hollow of the cartridge for confining the concentrate; a tube rigidly attached to the first endcap having a passage therein for allowing expulsion of the concentrate when pressure is applied to the concentrate by the first endcap; and a first and second control lip rigidly attached to the tube for metering the expulsion of concentrate out through the passage. In an alternate embodiment, the first endcap is a diaphragm whereby the bowing capacity of the diaphragm meters a controlled amount of concentrate out through the passage. A pressurized medium or vacuum acts upon the first endcap to effectuate a pumping of the concentrate out through the passage for mixing with a carrier fluid.

摘要: A method and apparatus for grinding for use with a grinding machine of the type comprising a circular grinding wheel adapted to rotate about its axis and a spindle adapted to hold a workpiece at a position radially spaced from the grinding wheel wherein the workpiece deflects away from the grinding wheel, and vice versa, as the grinding wheel is moved into the workpiece. The grinding machine includes means for advancing the grinding wheel into the workpiece, such as a threaded shaft and boss arrangement, and gauge means contact the workpiece on the spindle and provide an electrical output signal representative of the diameter of the workpiece. The advancing means is controlled by a microprocessor which, at the initiation of a grinding operation, rapidly advances the grinding wheel into contact with the workpiece a sufficient lineal amount to compensate for the total deflection of the workpiece, grinding wheel, and associated components. Thereafter the microprocessor advances the grinding wheel into the workpiece at a predetermined lineal rate. The output from the gauge means is coupled to the input of the microprocessor so that when the diameter of the workpiece attains predetermined dimension, the microprocessor controls the adavncing means to rapidly retract the grinding wheel from the workpiece at a third lineal rate. Both the first and the third lineal rates are greater than the mean second lineal rate.

摘要: A system and method for using a telephone to reconfigure or readjust the performance characteristics of a hearing aid or to check whether a user has a hearing problem. The telephone is used to generate one or more frequency tests covering the audible spectrum using a DSP contained in the phone, an external computer and/or a hearing aid. The keypad of the phone or keyboard of an attached computer is used as a feedback mechanism. The generated frequencies can be used to test the hearing of a user and the quality (or fit) of a hearing aid while being worn by the user. A local memory may be used to store the results of the tests for future reference or for transmission over the network for analysis at a later time. Once the hearing response of a user wearing the hearing aid has been measured, an updated compensation configuration (audiogram) can be downloaded into the hearing aid via an infra-red link, via a physical connection or a direct audio transmission from the telephone to the DSP in the hearing aid.

摘要: The pneumatically operated projectile launching device is preferably comprised of three principal elements: a body which houses and interconnects all of the pneumatic components and also houses the electrical power source, a grip mounted to the body which includes an electrical switch that activates a launching sequence, and an electrical control unit housed within both the body and the grip which directs flow between the pneumatic components to load, cock and fire the gun. The body preferably contains a plurality of bores in communication with each other including a bore containing and distributing pressurized gas, a bore containing a compressed gas storage chamber and mechanisms for filling the storage chamber with gas and releasing gas from the storage chamber to fire the projectile, and a bore containing mechanisms for loading and launching the projectile. The electrical control unit preferably includes an electrical power source which activates an electrical timing circuit when the electrical switch is closed, and two electrically operated pneumatic flow distribution devices which are sequentially energized by the electrical timing circuit to enable the loading of a projectile for launching and to release compressed gas from the storage chamber to fire the projectile, respectively. Before the initiation of a launching sequence the compressed gas storage chamber is filled with compressed gas while the projectile launching mechanism is disabled. Filling of the compressed gas storage chamber is preferably accomplished automatically by actuation of the compressed gas filling mechanism. When the electrical switch is closed to initiate the launching sequence the projectile is first loaded into the launching mechanism by electrical timing circuit actuation of the first electrically operated pneumatic flow distribution device. The projectile is then fired when the electrical timing circuit actuates the second electrically operated pneumatic flow distribution device to release gas from the compressed gas storage chamber into the launching mechanism.
