A torque fluctuation absorbing device includes a damping mechanism connected with an input shaft of a transmission. The damping mechanism has an approximately annular-shaped frictional member, which is fixed to both surfaces of a disc disposed at outer peripheral portion. The torque fluctuation absorbing device further includes a flywheel for transmitting driving force from a driving power source, a first plate rotated with the flywheel and abutting on a first surface of the frictional member, a second plate abutting on a second surface of the frictional member, a coned disk spring for biasing the second plate against the frictional member, a supporting member rotated with the first plate and supporting the coned disk spring, and a plurality of fixation members for fixing the first plate with the supporting member. The spiral-starting portion of the centrifugal wall comprises non-stepped portions formed along curves of &bgr;1-&bgr;1′ and &bgr;2-&bgr;2′ respectively, and a stepped portion formed along a curve &bgr;1′-&bgr;2′ that provides a thickness increase area encompassed by its upper-side curved surface and its lower-side curved surface. The discharge port is located on the end board of the fixed scroll member to partly overlap with the thickness increase area by partly hollowing the lower side of the stepped portion with the prescribed height.

An object of the present invention is to provide a scroll compressor which can improve the decrease in the compression ratio due to the leakage of compressed gas via a tip clearance between adjacent compression chambers, which can be assembled with fewer processes, and which can be manufactured at a low cost. In order to achieve the object, the present invention provides: a scroll compressor comprising a fixed scroll member which is fixed in position and has a spiral wall body provided on one surface of an end plate; an orbiting scroll member which has a spiral wall body provided on one surface of an end plate, being supported by engaging the spiral wall bodies so as to orbit and revolve around the fixed scroll member without rotation; the spiral wall bodies of the fixed scroll member and the orbiting scroll member each comprise a step portion which divides a top edge of the spiral wall body into plural parts forming a low top edge at the center and a high top edge at the outer end of the spiral wall body; and the end plates of the fixed scroll member and the orbiting scroll member each comprise a step portion which divides the end plate into a high part at the center and a low part at the outer end of the end plate; wherein at least one of a clearance between the high part of the end plate of the fixed scroll member and the low top edge of the spiral wall body of the orbiting scroll member, and a clearance between the high part of the end plate of the orbiting scroll member and the low top edge of the spiral wall body of the fixed scroll member is a fixed value.

A scroll compressor including a fixed scroll having a spiral-shaped wall body, and a swiveling scroll which has a spiral-shaped wall body and revolves while linking together the two wall bodies. The wall bodies have steps, and side faces of two end plates have high and low bottom faces in correspondence with the steps. A tip seal is provided along a join edge which connects top edges on different sides of each step, and a mechanism is provided therebetween to prevent the tip seals from becoming removed from the join edges. Furthermore, in the same scroll compressor, tip seals are provided respectively in two grooves, and join paths are provided respectively between a high-pressure compression chamber, which is formed with the bottom faces as one section, and the two grooves. The pressure inside the high-pressure compression chamber is used as a pressing force for the tip seals.
