Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to roadside unit relay for sidelink communications. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may determine a resource in which to monitor for a message from a wireless communication device, where the message is based at least in part on information from one or more vehicle to everything (V2X) messages received by the wireless communication device. The UE may monitor for the message only in the resource and receive the message in the resource. Numerous other aspects are provided.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A device may determine a packet for transmission and determine whether to transmit a reservation signal prior to the transmission of the packet based in part on a condition. The condition may include, but is not limited to, a packet size, or a packet priority, or a combination thereof. According to the determination, the device may refrain from transmitting the reservation signal or allocate resources for the reservation signal from a same resource pool associated with the transmission of the packet or a dedicated resource pool according to a pre-reservation resource pattern.

Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatuses for wireless communication that may allow a user equipment (UE) to determine its relative position and distances to other UEs more accurately than standard vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communications allow. In some implementations, a UE (or other wireless communication device) participating in a positioning operation may transmit and receive positioning signals on an unlicensed radio band, and may transmit and receive non-positioning signals on a V2X channel (or on another suitable channel) of a radio access network (RAN). The positioning signals may include positioning reference signals (PRSs) associated with observed time difference of arrival (OTDOA) positioning operations, ranging signals associated with round-trip time (RTT) positioning operations, or other suitable signals from which the position of the UE can be determined.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may identify a wake up time period corresponding to a wake up cycle, transmit a message that includes an identifier of the UE within a first resource pool during a first portion of the wake up time period based on the wake up cycle, and monitor for a paging signal from a vehicle UE during a paging occasion of the wake up time period based on transmitting the message. A vehicle UE may identify a wake up configuration for a wake up time period, receive, within a first portion of the wake up time period, a message within a resource pool that includes the identifier of the UE. The vehicle UE may transmit a paging signal within a paging occasion of the wake up time period.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may determine to use multi-cluster communications in a vehicle based communication network. The UE may identify a configuration parameter associated with the multi-cluster communications. The UE may select a cluster resource from a set of available cluster resources based on the configuration parameter. The cluster resource may include one or more clusters used for multi-cluster transmissions in the vehicle based communication network. The UE may transmit an indication of the selected cluster resource to a wireless node of the vehicle based communication network, for example, to another UE. The UE may transmit the multi-cluster transmission on the selected cluster resource.

A multi-phase distributed ranging technique includes transmitting and receiving vehicle information messages during a first time interval, where the vehicle information messages include at least a vehicle identifier and resource information. The multi-phase technique further includes transmitting and receiving ranging signals during a second time interval, and determining times of arrival of received ranging signals. A centralized ranging technique includes receiving resource assignments from an access point, transmitting ranging signals according to the resource assignments, and determining times of arrival of received ranging signals.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure propose a mechanism whereby a nearby device may detect scenarios where one device is unable to receive communications from a transmitting device. For example, the nearby device may detect that concurrent transmissions of a transmitting device and intended recipient prevent reception by the intended recipient and provide feedback to the transmitting device. Rather than blindly retransmitting, the transmitting device may only retransmit when it receives feedback from the nearby device, saving power and avoiding unnecessary transmissions.
