摘要: A flexible size diffuser grid assembly formed up of individual sparger units for use as a noise abatement device to reduce the fluid pressure in a predetermined manner to substantially reduce the aerodynamic noise and structural vibrations produced by a fluid moving therethrough. The sparger grid assembly is formed in a window pane grid-like arrangement of individual sparger pane units, each of which are mounted in a support frame, and each of which utilize individual stack of flat plates, the plates respectively having inlet slots and outlet slots, and interconnecting plenums, to create a series of passageways to substantially subdivide the flow stream of steam into smaller portions to reduce fluid pressure. The individual sparger units can be formed of a standard size, or instead formed of custom sizes, and greater or less numbers of individual window pane sparger units can be used in the frame, depending on the given end-use application.

摘要: A vending machine has a nonvolatile data storage device for storing transactions with customers. The customers may use a number of cashless options to make purchases from the vending machine, including magnetic credit or debit cards, or universal vending cards. The transactions are stored on the storage device and later retrieved either locally or remotely. The security of the data is enhanced by requiring separate passwords for the data storage device, access to the data storage device, and, optionally, for the vending machine controller. In addition, the data is inaccessible should the storage device become separated from the controller.

摘要: A product-on-demand delivery system applies an agricultural product, such as seed, to a field. The system includes a frame that mounts a main hopper, a splitter fitting, a primary product hose, a secondary product hose, a primary application unit and a secondary application unit. The main hopper has an air nozzle wherein an air stream through the air nozzle entrains product within the air stream and delivers the air/product to the primary outlet hose. The splitter fitting has a splitter inlet flow-connected to the primary product hose and two splitter outlets flow-connected to the application units. The secondary application unit is coupled to the primary product supply hose by the secondary product hose connected at an outlet branch. The outlet branch is connected at an angle such that a product flow velocity vector in the primary product supply hose at the outlet branch is at an obtuse angle to a flow velocity vector of product flowing through the outlet branch. The outlet branch is oriented for a vertical upward flow of air and product.

摘要: A multi-sheet article comprising a plurality of sheets is disclosed. Each of the sheets has opposite first and second faces that share a common perimeter edge. Each sheet also has an edge margin that extends from a portion of the perimeter edge of the respective sheet. The edge margins of the sheets are bound to each other in a manner connecting the sheets to each other. At least a first one of the sheets comprises a first removable portion and at least one frangible connection that is configured and adapted to facilitate the separation of the first removable portion from the remainder of the first sheet and from the other sheets. This first removable portion comprises a portion of magnetized material. However, the edge margin of the first sheet of the multi-sheet article is devoid of magnetized material.

摘要: Methods and apparatus for detecting wear in a liner. In one embodiment of the present invention, an electrically conductive wire is placed on or near the outside surface of the liner and the electrical resistance in the electrically conductive wire is measured to determine whether the wire has worn through. In another embodiment of the present invention, the temperature measured by a temperature measuring device, such as a thermocouple, is monitored over time to estimate wear in the liner.

摘要: A memo clip with mounting pins for releasably holding articles to an adjacent object comprises a clamping portion and a mounting portion. The clamping portion has first and second clamping members operatively connected to one another and movable between an open position and a substantially closed position for releasably holding an article therebetween. A biasing member connected to the first and second clamping members biases them toward their closed position. The mounting portion of the clip is operatively connected to the clamping portion and has at least one mounting prong that is adapted for insertion in and securement to the adjacent object for mounting the clip to the adjacent object. The mounting prong is movable between a safety position with an insertion end of the prong substantially flush against the first clamping member and an in-use position with the insertion end spaced from the first clamping member to facilitate insertion of the mounting prong into the adjacent object.

摘要: A catheter is attached to an elongated catheter body adapted for endovascular insertion with a balloon assembly at its distal end. Coolant injected through the catheter body may, in different embodiments, directly cool tissue contacting the balloon, or may cool a separate internal chamber. In the first case, the coolant also inflates the balloon, and spent coolant is returned to the handle via a return passage extending through the body of the catheter. A valve may regulate back pressure in the return passage to coordinate the flow of coolant into and out of the balloon so as to both inflate the balloon and achieve cryogenic cooling at the surface of the balloon. The coolant is biologically safe, and may be liquid carbon dioxide. Plural balloons may be provided adjacent the cooling segment, and one balloon may be shaped to treat the ostium of a vessel. Preferably, thermal conductivity of the balloon wall is enhanced by inclusion of thermally conductive material, such as metal, which may be introduced as a component of a composite elastomer material, or as a patterned metal layer that defines a pattern of thermally conductive treatment regions of the balloon surface. Patterns formed by printing, lithography or other means with copper, silver or other highly thermally conductive material enhance through-conduction characteristics of the wall so icing preferentially occurs to stimulate tissue destruction and vascular regeneration. Suitable patterns include spirals, dots, arrays of separated segments, or meandering curves which allow expansion of the balloon body without introducing delamination, localized stress cracking or separation of the balloon material. The conductive patterns may include patterns such as waffle-iron or other arrays of small lesions that are effective to treat the endovascular wall. When separate media are used for cooling and for balloon expansion, the cooling chamber may have a large diameter, and the balloon may form a thin shell or cuff. In that case, the balloon may be quickly inflated with a medium such as a saline to provide a quickly deployed and compliant contact structure of excellent conductivity.
