摘要: An improved protein beverage/drink composition which may provide a relatively high protein content, ranging from about 0.01% by weight to about 15% by weight, while optionally employing a carbonation concentration between about 0.1 volumes of carbonation (per volume of liquid drink solution or liquid drink suspension) to about 6 volumes of carbonation. Preferably the protein is a protein, such preferably as whey protein, or others. The protein beverage may contain juice and/or an additive which provides energy generation enhancement. The protein beverage may be heat treated to inactivate pathogenic microbes in the presence of the carbonation which may be used to provide taste and mouth feel for the drink. Typically, the treatment for pathogenic microbe inactivation is carried out in the individual package used for storage and handling of the protein drink.

摘要: A composition which helps reduce joint inflammation and structural damage to joints during the growth of muscle structure, whether such growth is for repair of damaged muscle tissue or for development of new and enhanced muscular structure. The composition comprises a combination of edible nutritional protein, and a hyperimmune milk protein concentrate. The preferred nutritional protein is a whey protein isolate. The concentration of nutritional protein present in the composition typically ranges from about 10% by weight to about 90% by weight, more typically about 70% by weight to about 90% by weight. The composition may contain additional ingredients such as polypeptides, amino acids, antioxidants and various flavorings and sweeteners. A method of use of the composition is also disclosed.

摘要: An improved medical implant device is provided which has a plurality of micro-electrodes. The use of a plurality of micro-electrodes allows a clinically effective electrical stimulation pathway to be selected once the implant is positioned within or adjacent to the tissue to be treated even if the implant is not optimally placed or located. Thus, in cases where the implant is not optimally placed, it is not necessary to remove the implant and then reposition it within or adjacent to the tissue to be treated, thereby reducing stress to the patient caused by additional surgery. Moreover, using the micro-electrodes of this invention, directional electrostimulation can be provided to the tissue to be treated. Implant devices with a plurality of micro-electrodes are provided which are especially adapted for use in reducing the frequency and/or severity of neurological tremors. Other implant devices having micro-electrodes are provided which are especially adapted for electrostimulation and/or electrical monitoring of endo-abdominal tissue or viscera.

摘要: An enhanced Dense Wave Division Multiplexing (DWDM) network is optimized through bundling subchannel traffic in DWDM channels at network nodes and “hubbing” the DWDM channels at nodes receiving a relatively higher volume of aggregate traffic than other nodes. The optimization can eliminate low rate links and supporting network equipment. The bundling and hubbing may also be used independently from one another. The DWDM network may be enhanced with SONET, SDH, Ethernet, ATM, or other technology. The DWDM network may be a BLSR, UPSR, point-to-point, mesh, or other network configuration.

摘要: An intra-cardiac imaging system that includes an ultrasound catheter that can image the left heart from within the right heart. The catheter has a proximal end, a distal end, and a lumen extending therebetween. The distal end includes an acoustic window longitudinally oriented and having a length of at least ten millimeters. A linear ultrasound transducer having an active surface is longitudinally mounted inside the lumen of the catheter at the distal end of the catheter adjacent the acoustic window. The active surface of the ultrasound transducer is directed toward the acoustic window, is approximately the same length as the acoustic window, and is capable of transmitting an ultrasound signal at a frequency of about 1.5 MHz to about 9 MHz.

摘要: A rear signal lamp of an automotive vehicle comprising a lamp housing and a curved cover lens for enclosing a thin light managing system. The thin light managing systems includes a plurality of backlight light-emitting diodes mounted in a light mounting substrate and secured to the lamp housing. A control module operatively connected to the light-emitting diodes for controlling the operation and illumination of the light-emitting diodes. A reflector matrix having a plurality of reflector cones corresponding to each of the light-emitting diodes in the mounting substrate and a hybrid optics panel having a direct lensing section covering the reflector matrix and light-emitting diodes and a double redirecting light pipe section surrounding the lensing section. A single light-emitting diodes is coupled along spaced apart quadrants of the redirecting light pipe. Each single light-emitting diodes emits light to the respective quadrant of the optics panel which is reflected and redirected from one or more lens facets to illuminated the front surface of the panel. The direct lensing section and redirecting light pipe illuminate distinct area on the curved cover lens.

摘要: Method and apparatus of a network configuration configured to permit a dense wavelength division multiplexing (“DWDM”) element to connect to a storage server, an Internet Protocol (“IP”) router, and DWDM network are disclosed. The configuration includes the DWDM network, storage area network (“SAN”) server, IP router, and optical transport network (“OTN”) switch. While the DWDM network transports information via optical fibers, the DWDM switch is coupled to the DWDM network for transporting optical signals. The SAN server is coupled to a port of the DWDM switch and is configured to store data at a remote location. The IP router which is coupled to the DWDM switch facilitates IP traffic between a user and the DWDM network. The OTN switch, coupled to the first DWDM switch, is capable of processing at least a portion of the optical signals.
