    摘要: An image forming device is disclosed that is able to superpose a smooth sheet on a toner image on a recording sheet after common thermal fusing, perform re-melting and solidification, and then separate the smooth sheet, thereby, forming a high-gloss image easily. The image forming device includes a first fusing unit for the common thermal fusing, and a second fusing unit for fusing the toner image on a recording sheet after the common thermal fusing with a gloss application sheet superposed on the toner image, and a separation unit for separating the gloss application sheet from the recording sheet. The gloss application sheet is superposed on the recording sheet with a side of the gloss application sheet projecting out beyond a side of the recording sheet on a downstream side in the conveyance direction, and the gloss application sheet and the recording sheet are directed into the separation unit while being superposed.

    摘要: A novel composite target material that is composed of a rare earth metal and a transition metal (iron-group metal) and which is used in the formation of a thin magnetooptical recording film by sputtering is disclosed. Also disclosed is a process for producing such composite target material.The process comprises the steps of providing a rare earth metal and an iron-group transition metal as separate entities, mixing these metals without alloying, and hot-forming the mixture at a temperature lower than the eutectic point of the system of metallic components in the mixture, thereby forming an intermetallic compound at the interface between the rare earth metal and the transition metal while causing said metals to be bonded together.The target material produced by this process contains 30-50 wt % of the rare earth metal, with the balance being made of the iron-group transition metal and incidental impurities. The structure of the target material is also characterized by the presence of an intermetallic compound phase at the interface between the particles of the rare earth metal and those of the transition metal. This composite target material has sufficiently high density, high strength, high deflective strength and good resistance to thermal shock to permit rotation and inversion during sputtering procedures without cracking. Furthermore, the oxygen content of this target material is no higher than 0.3 wt %. Therefore, a perpendicular magnetization film suitable for use in magnetooptical recording can be readily formed by sputtering the target material of the present invention. As a further advantage, the film deposition rate that can be achieved with this target material is significantly fast in comparison with the conventional alloy target material.

    摘要: Microcapsules having walls formed from polyvinyl alcohol are prepared by dispersing a substantially water insoluble nuclear material in an aqueous solution of a polyvinyl alcohol polymer, which solution has a cloud point, phase separating and depositing a concentrated aqueous solution of the polyvinyl alcohol polymer as a separated phase around said nuclear material from the bulk continuous phase by maintaining the temperature of the system above the cloud point of the aqueous polyvinyl alcohol polymer solution, and subjecting the phase separated solution to conditions which substantially solidify or gel said polyvinyl alcohol polymer in said concentrated aqueous solution of said separated phase around said nuclear material but which do not substantially solidify or gel the polyvinyl alcohol in the diluted aqueous solution of the continuous phase.
