Abstract:
The invention concerns a system, device, kit and method for detecting the presence, or concentration of a target in a sample. An assay set comprising at least two spaced apart electrodes is used, comprising a recognition moiety, capable of specific binding to the target, which is attached to at least one of the electrodes or the substrate therein between. If the recognition moiety binds the target then a conductive bridge can be formed between the electrodes, based on the complex between the recognition moiety and the target. The conductive bridge is formed by using nucleation-center forming entities attached to the complexes or to the targets from which a conductive substance is substantially grown. Alternatively the conducting bridge forms a conductive polymer between the electrodes.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to a hierarchical system and method for task assignment (TA), coordination and communication of multiple Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (DAV's) engaging multiple attack targets and conceives an ad-hoc routing algorithm for synchronization of target lists utilizing a distributed computing topology. Assuming limited communication bandwidth and range, coordination of UAV motion is achieved by implementing a simple behavioral flocking algorithm utilizing a tree topology for target list routing. The TA algorithm is based on a graph-theoretic approach, in which a node locates all the detectable targets, identifies them and computes its distance to each target. The node then produces an attack plan that minimizes the sum of distances of the UAV's in the subtree of a given node to the targets.
Abstract:
The invention relates to diagnostic kits, methods of diagnosing, prognosing and staging diseases, and immunogenic compositions. The invention is based on the detection of peptides associated with circulating soluble HLA complexes in particular disease states, including malignant diseases.
Abstract:
Novel iron chelators exhibiting neuroprotective and good transport properties are useful in iron chelation therapy for treatment of a disease, disorder or condition associated with iron overload and oxidative stress, e.g., a neurodegenerative or cerebrovascular disease or disorder, a neoplastic disease, hemochromatosis, thalassemia, a cardiovascular disease, diabetes, an inflammatory disorder, anthracycline cardiotoxicity, a viral infection, a protozoal infection, a yeast infection, retarding aging, and prevention and/or treatment of skin aging and skin protection against sunlight and/or UV light. The iron chelator function is provided by a 8-hydroxyquinoline, a hydroxypyridinone or a hydroxamate moiety. The neuroprotective function is imparted to the compound, e.g., by a neuroprotective peptide. A combined antiapoptotic and neuroprotective function is provided by a propargyl group.
Abstract:
Multifunctional compounds are provided, comprising two or more functional moieties selected from: (i) a moiety that imparts an iron chelator function; (ii) a moiety that imparts a neuroprotective function; (iii) a moiety that imparts combined antiapoptotic, neuroprotective and/or neurorestorative functions; (iv) a moiety that imparts brain MAO inhibition, preferably with little or no MAO inhibition in liver and small intestine; (v) a moiety that imparts cholinesterase inhibitory function; and (vi) a moiety that imparts an N-methyl-D-aspartic acid receptor (NMDAR) inhibition, and pharmaceutically acceptable salts and optical isomers thereof. The multifunctional compounds are useful in the treatment or prevention of diseases, disorders or conditions that can be prevented and/or treated by iron chelation therapy, and/or neuroprotection and/or neurorestoration, and/or apoptosis inhibition and/or MAO inhibition and/or cholinesterase inhibition and/or NMADR inhibition. The present invention encompasses compounds of the formulas I to VI.
Abstract:
A wave-guiding system and method for mode-selective transmission of a spatially coherent light beam is disclosed. The system comprises a wave-guide with an inlet and an outlet for transmitting one or more modes; a first mode-shaping optical element for shaping the spatially coherent light beam before it enters through the inlet of the wave-guide to a desired mode of the wave-guide; and a second mode-shaping optical element for shaping light beam after it exits from the outlet of the wave-guide for obtaining a desired vectorial field.
Abstract:
A hydrogel system comprising polymer-conjugated albumin molecules is provided for controlled release delivery of therapeutic agents. The polymer is a functionalized synthetic polymer, preferably PEG-diacrylate. The polymer-conjugated albumin is preferably mono-PEGylated albumin. The hydrogel system may comprise a matrix to which the polymer-conjugated albumin molecules are linked via a functional group of the polymer. The matrix may be formed from the same polymer of the polymer-albumin conjugate.
