Abstract: In a positioning device, expandable bodies which expand and contract by air pressure are disposed at opposite sides of a movable member in its moving direction, the movable member being able to reciprocate, and a valve device for holding the expandable bodies in their extended states by valve-closing action is provided in an air path device which supplies air from an air supplying device to the expandable bodies. In a massager including this positioning device, the movable member is movably guided in up and down directions by a guide member provided in a back rest of a chair body, and the movable member is provided with a massage element which is projected from a surface of the back rest and is abutted against a body of a person sitting on the chair body. The movable member is moved by supply and discharge of air to and from the air supplying device through the air path device to the expandable bodies provided at the opposite sides of the movable member in its moving direction, and the movement position of the movable member is adjusted by the valve devices of the air path device.

Abstract: An inflatable bladder position a distance from a joint is attached to an external structural support which crosses the joint but does not support it. By inflating the bladder one limb segment is forced towards the external support thereby increasing the ranges of motion of that joint. Further, the inflatable bladder has an instant release valve which, when pressed, will instantly release the pressure within the bladder. The limb is positioned intermediate the bladder and the external structural support for optimal biomechanical efficiency.

Abstract: A seat pad having a fabric cover attached to a pad base and a plurality of inflatable cells spaced parallel within the cover. Each of the inflatable cells is closed at one end and connected at the other end to an air tube which communicates with a compressed air source and the atmosphere. A distributor is interconnected between the air tubes, and the compressed air source and atmosphere to sequentially distribute the compressed air to the air tubes to alternately distribute the compressed air to the air tubes to alternately inflate and deflate each of the cells, thereby producing a translational pressure wave along the seat. The distributor includes a plate member having a plurality of ports communicating with the air tubes, a portion of these ports being relatively larger than the remaining portion to produce a differential in the translational inflating time and a varying volume and pressure of inflation in the air tubes. A padded headrest is also provided with a plurality of inflatable air chambers which are sequentially inflated and deflated in the same manner to produce a massaging effect.

Abstract: Devices, systems, and methods for percussion therapy of a patient's torso area provide percussive force to release and/or dislodge mucous from respiratory airways of a human patient. Such devices, systems, and methods may include a torso covering for securing to a patient's torso, percussive devices coupled to the torso covering, and an attachment assembly for supporting the torso covering. The percussive devices may include a percussion frame, an electromechanically actuated percussor for controlled movement between end positions, and resilient members attached to opposite ends of the percussion frame for assisting controlled movement of the percussor. The devices, systems, and methods disclosed herein provide efficient and comfortable high-frequency percussive force to a patient's torso, reducing stress on the patient and improving patient experience.
