Abstract:
A strainer filtering apparatus including a filtering tube providing a substantially larger effective filtering area for its length and width, substantially reducing foreign substances covering a suction surface and flow resistance of the foreign substances, and reducing pressure drop at a cooling water passage. The strainer filtering apparatus includes at least one inlet side into which cooling water is introduced and an outlet side through which the cooling water is discharged, hollow filtering tubes with filtering holes along their lengths, an upper plate having first grooves located at a lower surface and coupled to upper ends of the filtering tubes and an inlet part into which the cooling water is introduced, and a lower plate having punched holes to which lower ends of the filtering tubes are coupled. The cooling water in the filtering tubes is introduced through the punched holes and discharged at the outlet side.

Abstract:
A caged filter cartridge assembly has a pair of coaxially spaced-apart end plates, and a number of tubular filter cartridges extending between said end plates. These end plates include seat recesses having a coaxially disposed retaining ring establishing an annular terminal lock edge. The filter cartridges include end caps at each opposed end thereof which are received within respective ones of said seat recesses. The end caps have at least one annular lock ring which is forcibly engaged with the terminal annular lock edge of the retaining ring so as to join the end cap, and thus said filter cartridge, to the end plates.
Abstract:
A liquid filtration device having a backwashing feature in which liquid flow through the device is reversed with a plate being rotated under the filtration cartridges to allow reverse liquid flow into the individual filtration cartridges to produce the backwashing action.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a multi-element filtering system assuring serial filtration of a liquid through multiple filter cartridges while enabling flushing without requiring removal of the filter cartridges. Both conventional and reverse osmosis filtration is performed, sequentially, within the system. After filtration, the water is subjected to ultraviolet irradiation for purification. The filter cartridges are held within a canister which is pressed against the cap and constrained against rotation with the cap. The canister is divided into chambers, and has passages in its floor arranged to enable serial transfer of liquid from one chamber to the next. Flushing employs liquid introduced under normal pressure. Passages leading to the flush liquid outlet enable flushing to proceed when the flush liquid outlet is opened. At other times, filtered liquid will pass through passages leading to the filtered liquid outlet. Liquid is circulated to assure filtration even when flushing, so that contamination of filtered liquid is precluded.
Abstract:
A filter device for separating solid material from a liquid includes a filter housing with vertically extending removable sidewalls wherein at the location of the removable sidewalls connections are provided to receive two vertically extending sidewalls in spaced parallel relationship whereby a fluid impermeable sidewall may be inserted into the circumferential section of the housing when the liquid permeable section is removed for cleaning without interfering with the continual operation of the filter device. Moreover, the filter device of the present invention may be a first filter or pre-filter in a multi-stage filter system wherein a second filtering device is received within the first filter, the second filtering device includes a plurality of first tubular filters having an open bottom end and a closed top end and a second tubular filter centrally disposed of the first tubular filters in flow communication therewith. The second tubular filter has a closed bottom end and an outlet top end in flow communication with a discharge from the filter system.
Abstract:
A method of filtering solids from the effluent from a wastewater collection container such as a septic tank is disclosed. A mesh screen filter is immersed in wastewater having a concentration of waste solids which have been allowed to distribute into a scum layer and a sludge layer with a horizontal layer of liquid therebetween. The filter is surrounded with a housing, and the interior surface of the housing is exposed to the horizontal layer of liquid through a plurality of apertures in the housing. Liquid from the horizontal layer flows through the apertures into the housing and thereafter the liquid flows from one side of the filter to an opposite side thereof through a mesh screen filtering surface area greater than the interior surface area of the housing. Thereafter, the liquid flows through a liquid effluent outlet of the container. This filter is very efficient and consequently provides a high quality effluent, while resisting clogging and resultant collapse of the mesh screen surface area.
Abstract:
A filter element adapted to be sealingly clamped in a filter housing. The element comprises a porous hollow cylindrical integral self-supporting bonded fibrous structure. The structure has thermally melt bonded to at least one end thereof, a thermoplastic polymer closed cell foam sealing gasket. The gasket is adapted to provide a sealing surface between the end of the cartridge and the sealing edge of the filter housing. In a preferred embodiment, the sealing edges of the filter housing used in conjunction with the aforedescribed filter element comprises at least two circular sealing edges concentric to the axis of the cylindrical filter element. Such a combination provides a means for determining whether there is leakage past the sealing edges by the discoloration of the sealing gasket area between the concentric sealing edges by the liquid being filtered.
Abstract:
A vibrating filter apparatus comprises a housing, a filter unit in the housing and a support unit for supporting the filter unit in the housing. The support unit includes elongate elements in the housing connecting the filter unit in spaced relation to the wall of the housing, and a vibrator unit fixed to the support unit between the housing wall and filter unit and actuable for laterally vibrating the support unit and thereby the filter unit.
