Abstract:
A hot extrusion method for producing a metal piece comprising a tubular portion whereof one of the two ends is extended by a complex shape is provided. The method comprises: heating a billet from which the piece is made; and transferring the billet into a press extrusion tool, the tool including a cavity where the billet is placed and the shape of which substantially corresponds to the outer shape of the piece. The metal has, cold, a flow stress equal to or above 200 MPa. The complex shape and tubular portion are made by the following successive steps: at least one direct extrusion step using the first punch to produce the complex shape; a step for replacing the first punch with a second punch on the tool; at least one reverse extrusion step in the same tool to produce the tubular portion; and a step for evacuating the extruded piece.
Abstract:
A forming method for applying a continuous punching to a chain roller includes a raw block having a first surface and a second surface. The raw block would be sequentially punched and formed throughout the first to sixth punching or throughout the first to seventh punching. During the fourth punching, a first blanking would be executed. Alternatively, before executing the sixth or the seventh punching, a second blanking would be implemented.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a hollow, elongated structural element, where a first and a second blank (1, 14) are led through an oven (2) for heating to working temperature and are led through rollers (3, 4) with profiled surfaces for pre-forming in one or more steps. The blanks are each led through a forging press with a number of cooperating dies, the blank being worked in a number of steps (5, 8, 11) into halves of an essentially finished product, having a cross-section substantially in the shape of a U-profile with a predetermined varying height, width and thickness of material along its length. The second blank (14) is essentially a copy of the first blank (1). In a final step (15) the blanks are joined together into a composite hollow structural element (18). The invention also relates to a structural element manufactured according to the method.
Abstract:
Method and apparatus for providing a hollow, elongated construction element, for example for use as a vehicle front axle. The method includes (1) directing a first blank through a furnace (2) for heating the blank to a working temperature. The blank is directed between a pair of rollers (3, 4) having profiled surfaces, the blank being preformed in one or more steps to form an intermediate product having a predetermined profile along its longitudinal extent. The blank is fed to a forging press having a number of cooperating die pads, the blank being worked in a plurality of steps (5, 8, 11) to form a substantially finished product, having a cross section substantially in the form of a hat profile of predetermined varying height, width and material thickness along its length. A second blank (14), having essentially the same profile as the hat profile of the first blank in the dividing plane of the cooperating die pads, is placed in connection with the hat profile. In a later step (15), the first (1) and the second blank (14) are joined together, at least along their respective edges, to form a composite hollow construction element (18). One embodiment of the disclosed invention is also the construction element that is produced according to the above-described method.
Abstract:
A thermal module directly press-forged from magnesium alloy is disclosed having a peripheral wall, a recessed chamber surrounded by the peripheral wall. The body is made of magnesium alloy by means of softening magnesium alloy with heat and then press forging softened magnesium alloy into the desired shape.
Abstract:
A method for manufacturing a clutch suction disk for an air compressor of a vehicle air conditioner comprises the steps of: punching a solid round cylindrical steel bar so that the steel bar to be flattened; forming a recess in a central axis of the flattened steel cylinder by cool forge; expanding a bottom of the steel bar as a disk which expands out of a lower end of the flattened steel cylinder; folding an outer side of the disk upwards so as to form an outer cylinder which encloses the flattened steel cylinder by a further cool forge; punching a bottom of the recess so that the bottom descends downwards to be lower than a bottom of the outer cylinder; and forming a round hole with a predetermined diameter at the bottom of the recess.
Abstract:
A race member in a hub unit for supporting a wheel. The race member includes a cylinder portion, a flange portion bend radially outward from the cylinder portion, and a continuous portion that integrally connects the cylinder portion with the flange portion. The race member is integrally formed by subjecting a metal plate to punching and cold plastic working. The continuous portion is larger in thickness than the metal plate.
Abstract:
The invention is directed to an improved method and apparatus for a forward extrusion piercing which is able to pierce a long through-hole of slenderness (length/hole diameter) 5 or the like in a hot blank with a high accuracy by one stroke of the piercing punch so as to produce hollow metallic products. In the process, a hot blank forged with a determined outer shape is set on a lower die, and an upper die assembly is provided with the piercing punch, a holding guide and an upper die coaxially with the lower die. Downward movement of the upper die assembly enables the holding guide to hold the blank and then the punch moves down with a retention by a through-hole of the holding guide through which the punch passes, against transverse displacement of the punch. The tip of the punch is adapted to enter a through-hole of a receiver die at its lower stroke end in order to cut off redundant piece of the blank.
Abstract:
A method for warm forging a cup-shaped piece is disclosed. In warm forging a blank is heated between 400.degree. and 800.degree. C. and is inserted within a die having a cross sectional area substantially larger than that of the blank. The ends of the blank are clamped between a recess in the die and a recess in an upsetting punch and the upsetting punch compresses the blank until its sides become sufficiently bulged to almost touch, or touch, the sides of the die. The upsetting punch is then removed and a backward extruding punch is press fitted into the bulged blank and the blank is extruded to form a cup. The extrusion punch is lubricated and cooled by lubricant and coolant applicators at a position remote from the die so that the blank is not prematurely cooled by the coolant.
Abstract:
A method of making a hollow metal ball bat having a wall thickness along the length thereof that is substantially uniform thereby providing a weight ratio for the handle and barrel portions of the bat that approximates the diameters of the handle and barrel portions. The handle portion of the bat is formed by a swaging process which reduces the diameter of a portion of a metal tube blank, having generally a uniform diameter and wall thickness, on a mandrel having a substantially uniform diameter. The mandrel is effective to maintain the uniform wall thickness of the blank by forcing the metal thereof to flow longitudinally from the end of the blank forming the handle portion of the bat.
