    摘要: An improved method and an associated improved device for operating a linear-motor-driven simultaneous stretching installation is distinguished inter alia by the following features: during normal operation, the linear-motor-driven transporting units in the simultaneous stretching zone are subjected to an acceleration phase with a normal-operation acceleration profile involving a growing increase in the distance from a following transporting unit driven by the linear motor drive; when the web of material is moved into the stretching zone, at least two leading tenters, following one another and driven by the linear motor, are accelerated in the stretching zone in such a way that differs from the normal-operation acceleration profile that the distance formed between the at least two tenters following one another and driven by the linear motor is less than 80% or less than 75% of the distance that is brought about during normal operation.

The film retainer for a tenter apparatus is capable of suppressing a bowing phenomenon without significant modifications to an existing manufacture facility and being applicable under arbitrary manufacture conditions.

    摘要: Polyparaxylylene (PPX) polymers that can be expanded into porous articles that have a node and fibril microstructure are provided. The fibrils contain PPX polymer chains oriented with the fibril axis. The PPX polymer may contain one or more comonomer. PPX polymer articles may be formed by applying PPX to a substrate by vapor deposition. The nominal thickness of the PPX polymer film is less than about 50 microns. The PPX polymer film may be removed from the substrate to form a free-standing PPX polymer film, which may then be stretched into a porous article. Alternatively, a PPX polymer article can be formed by lubricating PPX polymer powder, heating the lubricated powder, and calendering or ram extruding to produce a preform that can subsequently be stretched into a porous article. The heating and expansion temperatures are from about 80° C. to about 220° C. or from about 220° C. to about 290° C. or from about 290° C. to about 450° C.

    摘要: Wrinkling of thin films is a strain-driven process that enables scalable and low-cost fabrication of periodic micro and nano scale patterns. However, real-world application is limited by the inability of current tools to provide the means for applying large, accurate, and non-equal biaxial strains via a device that can fit within the vacuum chambers that are required for thin film deposition/growth during wrinkling. The present biaxial tensile stage is a compact system that enables one to apply large and accurate non-equal biaxial strains to elastomeric films. It consists of (i) fixtures to clamp and hold films onto the stage, (ii) linear bearings for motion guidance, (iii) integrated actuators for real-time stretch control, (iv) base with kinematic coupling for registration to a metrology system, and (v) the structural frame.

    摘要: A stretching apparatus capable of optimally inhibiting neck-in of a film when the film is stretched in an MD (Machine Direction), has an advancing mechanism, a take-in mechanism, and film-holding unit placed at both end portions in a TD (Transverse Direction) of a transfer path of film between the mechanisms. The film-holding unit has a plurality of upper holding rollers placed in parallel at intervals in the MD of the film above the transfer path of film, and a plurality of lower holding rollers placed opposite to upper holding rollers below the transfer path of film such that the plurality of lower holding rollers work together with the plurality of upper holding rollers to sandwich the film vertically between the rollers. Upper holding rollers and lower holding rollers are rotatably supported such that their rotational axes are inclined outward in the TD of film toward a downstream side of the MD of film.
