摘要: A reticulated thermoplastic film includes a backing with openings and discrete elements protruding from the first major surface. There are two discrete elements aligned in a first direction abutting opposite ends of any given opening. In a second direction perpendicular to the first direction, there is one discrete element between the given opening and an adjacent opening aligned in the second direction. Each portion of the backing around the given opening is plastically deformed in its lengthwise direction and typically has higher stretch-induced molecular orientation at its edge adjacent the given opening than at its midpoint. The openings are often retractable. A method of making a reticulated thermoplastic film is also disclosed. The method includes stretching a thermoplastic backing with a plurality of discrete elements in the first direction. Subsequently stretching the backing in the second direction forms a tear in the backing between two adjacent discrete elements.

摘要: The invention provides a biaxially oriented polyamide-based resin film containing a polyamide-based resin together with a polyolefin-based elastomer and/or a polyamide-based elastomer. The film has the characteristics that (1) the number of Gelbo pinhole defects is not more than 5 when a twist and bend testing is carried out at 1° C. 1000 times using a Gelbo Flex tester; (2) the impact strength is not less than 0.9 J; (3) the total transmission haze value is not more than 5.0%; (4) the coefficient of static friction at a temperature of 23° C. and a relative humidity of 50% is not more than 0.7; and (5) the laminate strength of the laminated film obtained by laminating the biaxially oriented polyamide-based resin film and an unstretched polyethylene-based resin film is not less than 5.0 N/15 mm.

摘要: A method of preparing a security laminate including the steps of: a) providing a polyethylene terephthalate substrate (1); b) stretching the polyethylene terephthalate substrate in either a longitudinal or a transversal direction; c) coating and drying a first coating composition (2) on the stretched polyethylene terephthalate substrate; d) stretching the coated polyethylene terephthalate substrate in the longitudinal or transversal direction not selected in step b) in order to obtain a coated biaxially stretched polyethylene terephthalate substrate having a layer of the first coating composition with a dry thickness between 50 nm and 400 nm; e) coating and drying a second coating composition (3) on top of the dry layer on the biaxially stretched substrate, wherein the first coating composition contains a copolymer selected from the group consisting of a hydroxyl—functional, partially-hydrolyzed vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate copolymer and a polyester-urethane copolymer; and wherein the second coating composition contains a hydroxyl—functional, partially-hydrolyzed vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate copolymer. Security laminates and security documents containing them are also disclosed.
