摘要: A method and apparatus are disclosed for cooling damping fluid in a vehicle suspension damper unit. A damping unit includes a piston mounted in a fluid cylinder. A bypass fluid circuit having an integrated cooling assembly disposed therein is fluidly coupled to the fluid cylinder at axial locations that, at least at one point in the piston stroke, are located on opposite sides of the piston. The cooling assembly may include a cylinder having cooling fins thermally coupled to an exterior surface of the cylinder and made of a thermally conductive material. The bypass channel may include a check valve that permits fluid flow in only one direction through the bypass channel. The check valve may be remotely operated, either manually or automatically by an electronic controller. A vehicle suspension system may implement one or more damper units throughout the vehicle, controlled separately or collectively, automatically or manually.

摘要: A shock absorber includes a suction passage permitting flow only from a reservoir toward a compression-side chamber, a rectification passage permitting flow only from the compression-side chamber toward an extension-side chamber, and a variable valve permitting flow only from the extension-side chamber toward the reservoir. A large chamber as a compression-side pressure chamber communicating with the compression-side chamber and an outer periphery chamber as an extension-side pressure chamber communicating with the extension-side chamber are partitioned in the shock absorber by a free piston that moves slidably within a bottom member serving as a housing. A compression-side pressure-receiving area of the free piston is larger than an extension-side pressure-receiving area. Therefore, even in the uniflow shock absorber with the extension-side chamber and the compression-side chamber at equal pressures during the contraction operation, the damping force is reduced under conditions in which high frequency is input since the free piston moves downward.

摘要: A hydraulic shock absorber includes: an expansion-side passage and a contraction-side passage that connect an expansion-side chamber with a contraction-side chamber; an expansion-side valve body configured to open or close the expansion-side passage; a contraction-side valve body configured to open or close the contraction-side passage; an expansion-side back-pressure chamber configured to bias the expansion-side valve body; a contraction-side back-pressure chamber configured to bias the contraction-side valve body; a communicating channel that communicates with the expansion-side back-pressure chamber through an expansion-side resistance element, the communicating channel communicating with the contraction-side back-pressure chamber through a contraction-side resistance element; an expansion-side pressure introduction passage that connects the expansion-side chamber with the contraction-side back-pressure chamber; a contraction-side pressure introduction passage that connects the contraction-side chamber with the expansion-side back-pressure chamber; a regulating passage connected to the communicating channel; and a solenoid pressure control valve provided in the regulating passage to control a pressure in the upstream of the regulating passage. An expansion-side load for biasing the expansion-side valve body by virtue of the pressure of the expansion-side back-pressure chamber is larger than a contraction-side load for biasing the contraction-side valve body by virtue of the pressure of the contraction-side back-pressure chamber.

摘要: A hydraulic damper (3) includes a tube (4), a piston assembly (5) disposed slidably inside the tube (4), and an additional valve assembly (13). A compression chamber (9) is defined between the piston assembly (5) and the additional valve assembly (13). An additional compensation chamber (14) is defined between the additional valve assembly (13) and one side of a slideable partition (10). A gas chamber (11) is defined at the other side of the slidable partition (10). The damper includes an additional chamber assembly (15) to retain all the advantages of a twin-tube damper while providing the single construction offered by a mono-tube damper. One end of the additional chamber assembly (15) is attached to the slidable piston chamber (5) or to said piston rod (6) at the compression side thereof and the other end of said additional chamber assembly (15) is terminated with the additional valve assembly (13).

摘要: A hydraulic shock absorber includes a damping force generator configured to, when a current is supplied, generate a current-dependent damping force as a damping force relating to a magnitude of the current supplied and configured to, when no current is supplied, generate a current-non-supply-state set damping force as a damping force with a preset magnitude. This hydraulic shock absorber is configured to inhibit a supply of the current to the damping force generator when the current to be supplied to the damping force generator is greater than a threshold value. When a current to be received by the damping force generator is to increase to a value larger than the threshold value, the supply of the current to the damping force generator is inhibited, and the current-non-supply-state set damping force is generated, making it possible to reliably achieve a damping capacity while reducing power consumption.

摘要: A tube having sealing ring grooves formed by a sequential rotational process and a shock absorber including the tube, in which durability of a sealing ring fitted in each of the sealing ring grooves is enhanced. An inclination angle (θ1) formed with respect to a plane (PL1) perpendicular to an axis of a separator tube by a side surface of the sealing ring groove, which is located on an opening end side of the separator tube, is set to 8° or more. With this, a maximum tensile stress to be applied to an O-ring can be reduced to be smaller than a maximum tensile stress in a case of using a backup ring. As a result, the durability of the O-ring can be set equivalent to or enhanced to be higher than durability in the case of using the backup ring.

摘要: A shock absorber includes a piston which has at least one compression fluid passage, at least one rebound fluid passage and at least one bleed fluid passage. A compression valve assembly closes the at least one compression passage and a rebound valve assembly closes the at least one rebound passage. A bleed valve assembly with the bleed fluid passage defines a first, always open flow path through the piston and a second flow path, separate from the first flow path, through the piston. A bleed disc is movable between a first position where the second flow path is open and a second position where the second flow path is closed.
