Abstract: Disclosed herein are catalyst compositions containing boron bridged, cyclopentadienyl-indenyl metallocene compounds with an alkenyl substituent. These catalyst compositions can be used for the polymerization of olefins. For example, ethylene homopolymers produced using these catalyst compositions can be characterized by a density less than 0.97 g/cm3 and a melt index greater than 50 g/10 min.

Abstract: The present invention describes a metallocene catalyst based on a transition metal of group 4 or 5 of the periodic table, supported on a hybrid catalytic support provided with aliphatic organic groups, and a process for supporting metallocene on the hybrid catalytic support. The supported metallocene catalyst provides an ethylene polymer with broad or bimodal molecular weight distribution, in the presence of only one metallocene complex on the support.

Abstract: Catalyst support-activator for olefin polymerization catalysts, and processes for making, the support-activator comprising an intercalated, modified and calcined smectite clay comprising (a) pillars comprising aluminum and optionally: (i) at least one rare earth or lanthanide group metal; or (ii) at least one rare earth or lanthanide group metal and gallium; and (b) at least one ion-exchanged metal ion selected from the group consisting of aluminum, barium, beryllium, calcium, cerium, cesium, copper, chromium, gadolinium, gallium, germanium, hafnium, holmium, iron (II and III), lanthanum, lithium, magnesium, manganese, neodymium, potassium, praseodymium, rubidium, samarium, silver, selenium, sodium, strontium, tellurium, terbium, thallium, thorium, tin, titanium, uranium, ytterbium, yttrium, zinc and zirconium. The pillared clay exhibits a basal d100 spacing of: (A) 9 to 18 angstroms; or (B) equal to or greater than about 18.5 angstroms. Use of the modified clays, with metallocene catalyst precursor components, provides active olefin polymerization catalysts, preferably in the substantial absence of aluminoxanes or boron-containing compounds.

Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a polyethylene-based resin composition excellent in the moldability and at the same time, excellent in the balance between impact strength and stiffness as well as in the transparency, and a molded product and a film, which are obtained by the molding of the polyethylene-based resin composition. The polyethylene-based resin composition of the present invention comprises from 41 to 99 wt % of (A) an ethylene-based polymer satisfying specific conditions and from 1 to 59 wt % (B) an ethylene-based polymer satisfying specific conditions, wherein MFR of the composition as a whole is from 0.05 to 50 g/10 min and the density is from 0.910 to 0.960 g/cm3.

Abstract: A method of producing ultra high molecular weight (UHMW) C4-C30 α-olefin drag reducing agent (DRA). The method includes polymerizing in a reactor a first α-olefin monomer in the presence of catalyst and hydrocarbon solvent to produce the DRA. The catalyst consists essentially of at least one tertiary monophenyl amine having a formula R1R2N-aryl, where R1 and R2 are the same or different, and each is a hydrogen, an alkyl, or a cycloalkyl group, where at least one of R1 and R2 contain at least one carbon atom; at least one titanium halide having a formula TiXm, where m is from 2.5 to 4.0 and X is a halogen containing moiety; and at least one cocatalyst having a formula AlRnY3-n where R is a hydrocarbon radical, Y is a halogen or hydrogen, and n is 1-20. Further, the catalyst is absent of a carrier or support.

Abstract: A method for preparing a copolymer that involves polymerizing at least one branched alkene monomer and at least one olefin monomer having a pendant benzocyclobutene (BCB) group to form a copolymer comprising a random distribution of a plurality of constitutional units corresponding to the at least one branched alkene monomer and the at least one olefin monomer. The polymerizing includes a carbocationic polymerization reaction involving sequential addition of a plurality of mixtures without terminating the carbocationic polymerization reaction, wherein the plurality of mixtures includes a mixture that includes the at least one branched alkene monomer and does not include the at least one olefin monomer having a pendant BCB group and a mixture that includes both the at least one branched alkene monomer and the at least one olefin monomer having a pendant BCB group. The copolymer composition can undergo crosslinking at elevated temperatures (preferably above 180° C.).
