    摘要: A method for sensing includes connecting an input of a trans-impedance amplifier (TIA) to a first terminal of a sensor, which generates a current in response to an input signal that is incident on the sensor, the signal comprising pulses of a characteristic duration. A resistor is connected in series between a second terminal of the sensor and a power supply, which is set to drive the sensor at a selected voltage. A capacitor is connected to the second terminal in parallel with the sensor and the TIA and in series with the resistor. An upper limit is set on the current that is to be input to the TIA from the sensor, and respective values of the resistor and the capacitor are chosen, responsively to the characteristic duration of the pulses and the selected voltage, to prevent the current input to the TIA from exceeding the upper limit.

    摘要: Embodiments of an image sensor including a pixel array with a plurality of pixels arranged into rows and columns. Control circuitry coupled to the pixels in each row, and an analog-to-digital converter is coupled to the pixels in each column of the pixel array. Each analog-to-digital converter includes a ramp comparator, and a variable current source coupled to the ramp comparator to provide a variable bias current to the ramp comparator. The bias current can adjusted during reading of a row of pixels according to a dynamic bias current profile that maintains at least a specified margin between the random noise of the pixels and an acceptable noise level.     摘要: A trans-impedance amplifier (TIA) for a light-receiving circuit is disclosed where the TIA reduces the power consumption as suppressing the degradation of the signal quality in high frequency regions. The TIA comprises a primary core, a dummy core, and a differential amplifier that receives each output of two cores in the differential mode. Two cores have an arrangement substantially same to each other except that the power consumption thereof is smaller in the dummy core. Because the output impedance of two cores becomes substantially equal, the scattering parameter of the common mode to the differential mode at the output of the primary core becomes small enough.

    摘要: A variable gain amplifier canceling the dependence of the frequency bandwidth thereof on the gain is disclosed. The variable gain amplifier includes a differential stage with a cascade transistor put between an amplifying transistor and a load resistor. The amplifier further includes a current supplier and a current extractor. The current supplier extracts a current flowing in the second transistor by supplying an additional current to the amplifying transistor. The current extractor adds the additional current flowing in the load resistor which is extracted by the additional current by the current supplier. The bias condition of the load resistor is kept substantially constant independent of the equivalent impedance of the cascade transistor.
