Abstract: A delta sigma modulator circuit comprises a forward circuit path including a first integrator stage and an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) circuit, wherein a transfer function of the forward circuit path includes a signal gain element of m, wherein m is a positive integer; an input path to the first integrator stage, wherein a transfer function of the input path includes a signal gain element of l/m; and a feedback circuit path operatively coupled to an output of the ADC circuit and an inverting input of an op amp of the first integrator stage, wherein the feedback circuit path includes at least a first digital-to-analog converter (DAC) circuit and a transfer function of the feedback circuit path includes a signal gain element of l/m.

Abstract: A system and method for operating a high dynamic range analog front-end receiver for long range LIDAR with a transimpedance amplifier (TIA) include a clipping circuit to prevent saturation of the TIA. The output of the clipping circuit is connected via a diode or transistor to the input of the TIA and regulated such that the input voltage of the TIA remains close to or is only slightly above the saturation threshold voltage of the TIA. The regulation of the input voltage of the TIA can be improved by connecting a limiting resistor in series with the diode or transistor. A second clipping circuit capable of dissipating higher input currents and thus higher voltages may be connected in parallel with the first clipping circuit. A resistive element may be placed between the first and second clipping circuits to further limit the input current to the TIA.

Abstract: An Ethernet or other communications module can amplify and reinforce a signal received from a non-local source without requiring a transformer or other magnetic component. A semiconductor integrated difference amplifier circuit can be used to amplify and reinforce a differential mode component of the received signal, while also attenuating a common mode component of the received signal. A transmission compensation network can generate a phase-shifted version of a locally transmitted signal being placed on the same communication terminals as the received signal during full duplex communications, for cancellation of such locally transmitted signal at inputs of a local receiver circuit. This can enhance detection of the received signal generated by the non-local source.

Abstract: A flyback power conversion circuit can be operated by selectively establishing and interrupting a current through a first inductance to store energy. A portion of the energy from a second inductance can be transferred to a storage device to provide an output voltage, where the second inductance is magnetically coupled to the first inductance. Information transmitted across an isolation barrier can be monitored, such as information indicative of the output voltage. The monitoring can include detecting whether information from at least two sources is consistent. An operating mode of the flyback power conversion circuit can be selected, such as response to the detecting whether the information from at least two sources is consistent, or whether valid information is being transmitted across the isolation barrier, or in response to one or more other criteria.

Abstract: System and techniques for a visual vehicle parking occupancy sensor are described herein. A color image, including a parking space, is received from a camera. A cascaded search for vehicle features in a hue-saturation-value (HSV) converted version of the color image is performed to produce search results. A search for macro vehicle features in the color image is also performed to produce an indication of found macro vehicle features when the search results are of a first type. An occupancy indicator is provided based on the search results when the search results are of a second type and based on the indication otherwise.

Abstract: A charge injection compensation circuit compensates for charge injection by a field-effect transistor (FET) switch regardless of a supply voltage. The charge injection compensation circuit includes a main switch that injects charge into an electronic circuit when switched off, and a charge storage device that stores the injected charge until it can be dissipated to a dissipating node. Upon the main switch being controlled to switch off, a pulse generator circuit controls a charge storage switch to switch on to transfer the charge injected from the main switch to the charge storage device and then switch off. A dissipation circuit dissipates the charge from the charge storage device to a dissipating node.

Abstract: Digital to analog converters (DAC) are used to convert digital signals to analog values. The digital system providing data to the analog converter may be highly tasked. A DAC is provided with some in built logic to assist in reducing the load on the devices driving the DAC. The DAC may include a library of functions that it can apply to the input words to modify transitions in the analog output words. The DAC may further include a health checking system for monitoring the digital words being supplied to the DAC and raising a concern, and taking action if required, if the sequence of words is unlikely to be correct or beyond the target operating range.
