Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may autonomously initiate a handover procedure and select a target base station for the handover procedure. The UE may measure a signal from the source base station or the target base station, or both, and the UE may determine whether specific criteria at both base stations are within a pre-configured range. If the criteria at both base stations are within the pre-configured range, the UE may identify the target base station as a potential candidate for a handover. Accordingly, when the UE determines that radio conditions with the source base station are deteriorating (or fall below a threshold), the UE may initiate a handover to the target base station autonomously and without specific direction from the source base station.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for communications between a user equipment (UE) and a base station via one or more relays. The UE and base station may establish a direct connection according to a first UE capability, and the UE may identify one or more relays that are in proximity to the UE and that may be used for relaying communications between the UE and the base station. The UE may provide a capability indication of a second UE capability to the base station that indicates transmission parameters associated with at least one relay, which the base station may use to communicate with the UE via the relay. The base station may select which UE capability to use for communications, which may result in either direct communications with the UE or a connection via the relay.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide a user equipment (UE) that may receive an indication of a proximity discovery resource in a physical sidelink feedback channel (PSFCH) symbol from a network entity. The UE may transmit a proximity discovery request including the indication of the proximity discovery resource. The UE may receive a PSFCH sequence associated with the proximity discovery resource from other UEs that may respond to the proximity discovery request. The UE may transmit a bit map sequence indicative of the other UEs to the network entity. The network entity may determine a proximity between the UE and the other UEs based on the bit map sequence. The network entity may schedule the UE and the other UEs based on the proximity.

Abstract: Providing downlink and uplink processing is disclosed for a cooperative user equipment (UE) operations. A UE participating in the cooperative UE may determine a processing capability associated with each cooperative operational mode of one or more cooperative operation modes of which the UE is capable. The UE sends a cooperative capability report to a serving base station that includes identification of the one or more capable cooperative operation modes and the processing capability of the UE associated with the each cooperative operation mode. The base station may then configure the UEs based on this capability information. The UEs would receive a cooperative mode configuration message from the serving base station with the configuration of a cooperative operation mode for the UE. The UE may then conduct cooperative UE communications using the configured mode according to its associated processing capability. Other aspects and features are also claimed and described.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some wireless communications systems, a first base station or a base station component may receive an assistance information message associated with a sidelink discontinuous reception (DRX) configuration for communications between the first UE and a second UE. The first base station may transmit the assistance information message received from the first UE to a second base station or a second base station component. The first base station and the second base station may communicate with one another via a direct link or an interface, and the second base station may transmit an indication of the sidelink DRX configuration for the first UE to the first base station via the interface. The first base station may then transmit the sidelink DRX configuration to the first UE, along with an access link DRX configuration for the first UE.
