Abstract:
The present invention provides a solution to improve coverage and cell edge performance in a mobile user communication system is the use of fixed relays, which are pieces of infrastructure without a wired backhaul connection. The relays transmit or “relay” downlink messages between the base station (BS) and mobile stations (MSs) through a multi-hop communication. The present invention is a method and system for supporting a multiple user mobile broadband communication network that includes relay techniques suitable for user equipment in the downlink communication to the user equipment.
Abstract:
An object tracking and recognition system are provided and comprise a video device for getting the image information of an object in the detection range of the object tracking and recognition system; and a radio frequency identification (RFID) device for detecting signal strength of a radio frequency (RF) tag of the object; wherein the video device is turned on to get the image information of the object upon the detected signal strength reaching a predetermined signal strength threshold.
Abstract:
Methods and computer programs to quantify defects in an experimentally synthesized material for use in a battery are provided. A method includes an operation for obtaining spectra of the experimentally synthesized material. Further, defected structures of a crystalline structure are created via simulation, and spectra of the defected structures are obtained via simulation. In another method operation, the spectra of the experimentally synthesized material is compared to the spectra of the defected structures obtained via simulation, and if the spectra of the experimentally synthesized material is substantially equal to the spectra of the defected structures obtained via simulation then the defects in the experimentally synthesized material are quantified according to the defects in the defected structures.
Abstract:
A novel hybrid lithium-ion anode material based on coaxially coated Si shells on vertically aligned carbon nanofiber (CNF) arrays. The unique cup-stacking graphitic microstructure makes the bare vertically aligned CNF array an effective Li+ intercalation medium. Highly reversible Li+ intercalation and extraction were observed at high power rates. More importantly, the highly conductive and mechanically stable CNF core optionally supports a coaxially coated amorphous Si shell which has much higher theoretical specific capacity by forming fully lithiated alloy. The broken graphitic edges at the CNF sidewall ensure good electrical connection with the Si shell during charge/discharge processes.

A novel hybrid lithium-ion anode material based on coaxially coated Si shells on carbon nanofibers (CNF). The unique cup-stacking graphitic microstructure makes the CNFs an effective Li+ intercalation medium. Highly reversible Li+ intercalation and extraction were observed at high power rates. More importantly, the highly conductive and mechanically stable CNF core optionally supports a coaxially coated amorphous Si shell which has much higher theoretical specific capacity by forming fully lithiated alloy. Addition of surface effect dominant sites in close proximity to the intercalation medium results in a hybrid device that includes advantages of both batteries and capacitors.
Abstract:
The disclosure relates to a composition comprising rotigotine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof; at least one poly(lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA); and at least one fatty acid, wherein the at least one fatty acid is at least 0.5% in weight relative to the total weight of the composition. The composition as disclosed herein has significantly reduced burse release effect. The disclosure also provides a method of treating Parkinson's disease comprising administering an effective amount of the composition as disclosed to a subject in need thereof.
Abstract:
A software trusted platform module (sTPM) operates in a hypervisor, receives trust assurances from specialized hardware, and extends this trust such that the hypervisor performs trust attestation. The hypervisor receives a startup sequence validation from a TPM, or Trusted Platform Module. The TPM performs bus monitoring during a boot sequence of the computer system, records the startup sequence from the bus, and performs a hash on the sequence. The TPM performs an authentication exchange with the hypervisor such that the hypervisor authenticates the attestation of the computer system from the TPM, and the hypervisor, now delegated with trust assurances from the TPM, provides assurances to users via an authentication chain. The ATCB then performs the attestation of the computer system according to the attestation protocol much faster than the TPM. In this manner, the hypervisor operates as a software delegate of the TPM for providing user assurances of trust.
Abstract:
A method performed by a processing system includes identifying a first node in a metadata tree of a patient that corresponds to an encrypted electronic health record in an encrypted data store and preventing a portion of the first node from being decrypted with a node key of a first healthcare participant in response to a second node of the metadata tree including key rotation information that indicates that the node key has been revoked by a second healthcare participant.
Abstract:
A method for providing mosaic channels among multiple client devices is provided. Wherein, the multiple client devices are connected via a data communication network so as to be able to communicate data with each other. At the side of a client device, which is instructed to change to a mosaic channel while the other client device are receiving channel programs from at least one channel program server via a communication for channel programs, the method comprises the steps of receiving channel information of the channel programs from at least one of the other client devices via the communication network for channel programs; and generating a mosaic channel that comprises channel cells for presenting the channel information.
Abstract:
A mountain climbing machine, which does not require connecting with an external electrical power source, includes a running belt, front and rear rollers, and a generator operatively linked to one of the front and rear rollers for generating electrical power when the running belt is running, wherein a rotational speed of said generator is controlled by a consumption of the electrical power generated from the running belt so as to provide a resistance force at one of the front and rear rollers to maintain the running belt at a constant speed without connecting to the external electrical power source.
