Abstract:
The present invention utilizes honeypots, which are messaging system resources set up to attract unauthorized or illicit use thereof, for automatically identifying messages with malignant content. As messages are received at a honeypot, fingerprints of the messages are generated, which correspond to pattern information within the messages. These fingerprints are then used to determine a confidence level that messages received at a legitimate messaging service are malignant. Based on the confidence level, various actions (e.g., deleting the malignant content) may be executed.
Abstract:
Microlens arrays include a substrate, an array of microlenses on a first side of the substrate and an aperture mask on a second side of the substrate. The aperture mask includes an array of apertures at optical axes of the lenses. A second array of apertures may be included in the aperture mask at randomized positions therein. The randomized apertures may be provided in the aperture mask by providing a diffusive layer between the aperture mask and the substrate, and directing coherent radiation through the lens array, the diffusive layer and aperture mask.
Abstract:
Circuits, apparatus, and methods for avoiding deadlock conditions in a bus fabric. One exemplary embodiment provides an address decoder for determining whether a received posted request is a peer-to-peer request. If it is, the posted request is sent as a non-posted request. A limit on the number of pending non-posted requests is maintained and not exceed, such that deadlock is avoided. Another exemplary embodiment provides an arbiter that tracks a number of pending posted requests. When the number pending posted requests reaches a predetermined or programmable level, a Block Peer-to-Peer signal is sent to the arbiter's clients, again avoiding deadlock.
Abstract:
A tool for manipulating a fiber optic connector includes a handle portion having a first major axis and first and second ends. An intermediate support arm having a second major axis extends from the first end of the handle portion. First and second jaws extend from the intermediate support arm. Each jaw extends generally perpendicular to the second major axis of its respective intermediate support arm and generally orthogonal to the first major axis. Each jaw includes a gripping portion having a generally concave shape configured to complementarily receive a portion of the fiber optic connector. Movement of the handle portion moves the jaws between an open position in which the jaws are spaced apart for loosely receiving a fiber optic connector, and a closed position in which the jaws securely grip the fiber optic connector.
Abstract:
A walker is disclosed having two sets of handles positioned for rising from and lowering to a seated position in addition to serving as a walking aid. The walker comprises a frame having a front section comprising a pair of front vertical supports and a rigid cross-piece, and two side sections each comprising a rear vertical support having a load-bearing axis formed through a ground-engaging point, rigid connectors connecting the side sections to the front section, a first pair of handles positioned to support a user in a standing or walking position, and a second pair of handles positioned below and to the rear of the first set of handles to support a user in rising from or lowering to a seated position, in which the geometric centers of each of the second pair of handles is positioned to the rear of the load-bearing axis of each of the rear vertical supports.
Abstract:
A paperboard laminate comprising a paperboard substrate, having an interior surface and an exterior surface, a layer of high density polyethylene on the interior surface of the paperboard substrate, a tie layer interior to the high density polyethylene layer, a barrier layer interior to the high density polyethylene layer, a second tie layer interior to the barrier layer, and a polyolefin layer interior to the second tie layer. The laminate is useful for packaging dry food products such as ready-to-eat cereals, powdered drink mixes, baking goods, and non-food products such as dry laundry detergent, fertilizer pellets, and powdered air fresheners.
Abstract:
A system and method for dynamically evaluating an electronic commerce business model through click stream analysis is disclosed. An electronic commerce business model is incorporated into a Web site. The Web site includes a plurality of related Web pages structured in a hierarchical manner. Each Web page includes one or more hyperlinks selectable by a user. A plurality of data vectors is stored. Each data vector represents a click stream path through the Web site. Each data vector includes a set of data entries that each corresponds to Web content selected via the hyperlinks in the related Web pages. Each click stream path is classified based on at least one such data entry in the data vector. The classified click stream path shares at least one common characteristic with one or more other click stream paths. The classified click stream paths are analyzed according to a pre-defined evaluation procedure directed at determining at least one of efficacy of presentation and shifts in demography. The electronic commerce business model is compared to the classified click stream paths analysis.
Abstract:
A system and method for maintaining large-grained database concurrency with a log monitor incorporating dynamically redefinable business logic are described. Operations expressed in a data manipulation language are executed against a source database. At least one operation constitutes a commit operation that completes each database transaction. A current rule set is defined. Each rule includes business logic specifying a data selection criteria for records stored in the source database. A log entry is periodically generated in a log for each transaction committed to the source database. Each log entry identifies an affected record and includes transactional data. The transaction identified in each log entry is evaluated against the data selection criteria specified in the current rule set. A new record is built in accordance with metadata describing a destination database. The new record contains select transactional data from the log entry of each transaction meeting the selection criteria. The new record is stored into the destination database. The data stored in the destination database includes at least a partial subset of the source database.
