Abstract:
A series of new 6-piperazinyl-3,4-dihydroquinazolin-2(1H)-ones have been synthesized. The compounds are structurally related to adoprazine, a potential atypical antipsychotics bearing potent D2 receptor antagonist and 5-HT1A receptor agonist properties. Buchwald-Hartwig coupling of suitably modified aryl bromides with tert-butyl piperazine-1-carboxylate afforded the advanced intermediate piperazinyl-3,4-dihydroquinazolin-2(1H)-one. The reductive amination of the latter with appropriately designed biarylaldehydes accomplished the synthesis of these compounds.

Abstract:
A method is provided for forming on a substrate a chalcogenide layer, the chalcogenide layer containing at least two metallic elements and containing Se. The method comprises depositing on the substrate a metallic layer containing the at least two metallic elements; and annealing the metallic layer in an environment comprising both a S-containing vapor such as H2S vapor and a Se-containing vapor such as H2Se vapor, thereby forming the chalcogenide layer. The annealing may for example be done at a temperature in the range between 450° C. and 550° C., resulting in a layer with good morphological quality and large grain size, the layer being free of S. A method of the various embodiments may for example be used for forming an absorber layer of a photovoltaic cell.
Abstract:
The removal of heavy metals from aqueous solutions using metal-doped titanium dioxide nanoparticles is a method that comprises contacting the aqueous solution with metal-doped titanium dioxide nanoparticles. The three transition metals tungsten, vanadium and iron were selected for doping of titanium dioxide. Removal of the toxic heavy metals Pb(II), Zn(II) and Cd(II) was studied intensively by using metal-doped titanium dioxide to measure the isotherms and kinetics. The isotherms studies showed that the highest removal percentage of Pb(II) was achieved by W-doped titanium dioxide, while Fe-doped titanium dioxide and V-doped titanium dioxide performed better for removal of Zn(II) and Cd(II), respectively.

The structured control instruction fetch unit is a structured instruction stream controller that processes expand (XP), expand register indirect (XPR), loop (LOOP), and break (BRK) instructions for structured control. The fetch unit processes stop bits that mark the end of instruction blocks. Any instruction can be marked with a stop bit to indicate that it is the last one in an instruction block. All instructions are encoded with a predicate to reduce the use of control instructions and to simplify the control. A control stack guides instruction fetching by storing return addresses, loop block addresses, loop predicates, and loop counters. Control instructions and stop bits manage operation of the control stack. An instruction unit feeds execution units and includes a set-associative instruction cache, a control stack, an instruction buffer that decouples instruction fetching from execution, instruction decoders, and program counter (PC) control logic.

Systems and methods for influencing thrust of a gas turbine engine are disclosed. A system includes a plurality of pipes positioned at an exhaust nozzle of the gas turbine engine. Each one of the plurality of pipes includes: an inlet inside the exhaust nozzle; an outlet inside the exhaust nozzle; and an intermediate portion outside the exhaust nozzle.

The system and method for joint compensation of power amplifier's distortion provides a linearization scheme for transmitter power amplifiers driven by orthogonal frequency division multiplexing signals. A pre-compensated over-driven amplifier is employed at the transmitter. The over-driven amplifier's distortions are considered as a sparse phenomenon and compressive sensing (CS) algorithms are employed at the receiver to estimate and compensate for these distortions. A bandwidth efficient data aided scheme which does not require reserving subcarriers specifically for CS measurements is utilized.
