Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for delivery of a drug to a recipient. In some embodiments, the delivery apparatus may include a mechanical drive train. Motion of the drive train may drive priming of the device. Subsequently motion of the drive train may discharge the drug. The priming may include unsealing a drug reservoir and/or locking a door. In some embodiments, the rate of discharging may be controlled and/or adjustable. Optionally the apparatus may be disposable. Optionally, the apparatus may have a base that is attachable to the recipient. Optionally, motion of the drive train may be parallel to the base of the apparatus. Optionally, the apparatus may release a hypodermic needle into the recipient. Optionally, release of the hypodermic needle may be in a direction non-parallel and/or orthogonal to the motion of the drive train.

Abstract: A cartridge interface assembly drives a stopper in a drug reservoir or a drug delivery device. An anti-rotational guide optionally moves along an axis of a cavity of the reservoir. The anti-rotational guide is optionally slidably anti-rotationally coupled to a housing of the drug delivery device. A telescoping plunger driver may include a proximal shaft and distal shaft that telescope by relative rotation. The distal shaft is optionally slidably anti-rotationally coupled to the anti-rotational guide. The shafts are optionally oriented along said axis. In some embodiments, rotating the proximal shaft with respect to the anti-rotational guide moves the guide along said axis with respect to the housing and moves the distal shaft along the axis with respect to the anti-rotational guide.

Abstract: A variable flexibility adhesive system may adhere a surface of a medical infusion device to the skin of a user. The system may be configured to hold a location on the surface stationary with respect to a site on the user's skin. The system may include an adhesive substrate for adhering to the user and an interface where the substrate is held to the surface of the device. The interface may totally and/or partially surround the stationary location. A skirt of the substrate may totally and/or partially surround the interface. Parts of the skirt may be stiffened. Optional features may include tabs for activation of the adhesive and/or a location for peeling the infuser to away from the skin. Additionally or alternatively, the interface may have variable flexibility. Additionally or alternatively, the stiffener may include a plastic layer.
