Abstract:
The present invention relates to novel human secreted proteins and isolated nucleic acids containing the coding regions of the genes encoding such proteins. Also provided are vectors, host cells, antibodies, and recombinant methods for producing human secreted proteins. The invention further relates to diagnostic and therapeutic methods useful for diagnosing and treating diseases, disorders, and/or conditions related to these novel human secreted proteins.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to human secreted polypeptides, and isolated nucleic acid molecules encoding said polypeptides, useful for diagnosing and treating diseases, disorders, and/or conditions related to said human secreted proteins. Antibodies that bind these polypeptides are also encompassed by the present invention. Also encompassed by the invention are vectors, host cells, and recombinant and synthetic methods for producing said polynucleotides, polypeptides, and/or antibodies. The invention further encompasses screening methods for identifying agonists and antagonists of polynucleotides and polypeptides of the invention. The present invention further encompasses methods and compositions for inhibiting or enhancing the production and function of the polypeptides of the present invention.

Abstract:
The present invention comprises a system for the control of multiple remote resources. A plurality of user stations, each comprising a keyboard, video screen and a mouse, communicate with a server management unit. The server management unit is comprised of a server chassis, matrix switch and a switch server. Remote resources are each connected to a port of a multiplexer or to a server interface. A user station connects to a remote resource by making a request to the server management unit. The switch server identifies the multiplexer or server interface port to which the resource is connected from a database. A request is made to a remote interface server connected to the multiplexer and server interfaces and the remote interface server connects the appropriate ports of the server management unit and the multiplexer or server interface.

Abstract:
The invention provides apparatus for conditioning mammalian blood for subsequent use in a medical procedure. The apparatus includes a cabinet having a secure environment and a door providing the only access to the environment. An input system is provided for transporting a blood charge from a source to the cabinet and a flask is removably contained in the secure environment and coupled to the charge input system to receive the charge. Stressors are coupled to the cabinet and positioned for operation to create a conditioned charge in the flask. An output system is coupled to the flask and includes a receiver for the conditioned charge. The apparatus includes an automated control system operable upon closing the door to lock the door and to then condition the charge, and to then cause the charge to move from the flask to the receiver. As a result, a charge from the input system is conditioned and delivered to the receiver, the door is then unlocked and the conditioned charge is ready to be removed and used to complete the medical procedure. A flask assembly is also provided for use in the apparatus and a process is also described.
Abstract:
A lens for eyeglasses is provided with two or more optical zones on the lens body having different optical properties that enhance visualization of different scenes, including target objects within the scenes, that are associated with a specific recreational activity such as golf, hunting, or fishing. A first optical zone in an upper portion of the lens can be provided with pre-defined focus distance, transmission percentage, and/or transmission spectrum parameters for enhanced visualization of distant scenes associated with the specific recreational activity. A second optical zone in a lower or outer portion of the lens can be provided with different pre-defined focus distance, transmission percentage, and/or transmission spectrum parameters for enhanced visualization of close-in scenes associated with the specific recreational activity.
Abstract:
A contact lens has at least one optical filter region that can be surrounded by a clear optical region. The one or more filter regions have a diameter such that an increasing percentage of visible light is transmitted to the pupil of the eye as lighting conditions change from high-intensity lighting environments to low-intensity lighting environments. The cooperation between the changing pupil and lens provides an automatic adjustment of light intensity perceived by the wearer in response to the changing light conditions. Different filtering characteristics are provided in the filter regions to enhance perception of light corresponding to light reflected by an object or background scene used in outdoor sporting and recreational activities, while attenuating other reflected light.
Abstract:
A disposable suture boot for use on surgical instruments to provide a non-slip covering for the instruments end which is interconnected by a thin band of material. The suture boot is comprised of a sealed elongated monolithic unitary hollow cylindrical body of resilient surgical rubber with a center portion cut partially away to form an interconnecting web between the oppositely disposed sealed end portions.
Abstract:
An internally deployable resilient continuous electrode assembly for placement through a catheter comprises a distortable electric conductor movable through the catheter in a first position and deployable therefrom in a second position onto the epicardial surface of the heart without the need of a general anesthetic and minimizing the risk for the patient. The distortable electric conductor has a plurality of distortable flat conductor strips conductively connected at their ends to the distortable electric conductor so as to provide an enlarged surface area of contact with the heart for defibrillating episodes.
