Abstract:
A magnetic shield having non-magnetic gaps provides reduced magnetic cross-talk for a linear motor array in a precision positioning system. Redirecting the leakage flux limits the cross-talk and associated deleterious effects. Such preferred magnetic circuit paths for the leakage are affixed to the moving magnet system of the linear motor. Embodiments of the preferred flux leakage paths are realized by providing a ferromagnetic shield separated by a non-magnetic gap between the permanent magnets and the back-irons. In another embodiment, the ferromagnetic shield separation includes diamagnetic materials.
Abstract:
Techniques for parallel processing of directory searches are provided. A directory search is received on a multicore or multiprocessor architecture machine. At least two threads processing on different cores or processors of the machine handle different aspects of the directory search. A first thread identifies matches in the directory for the search and serially populates the matches to search results. The second thread serially and in parallel grabs the matches in the search results and filters some out and modifies other ones of them to complete processing on the search. The search results are then returned to an initial requester making the initial search.

Apparatus, systems, and methods may operate to receive reports at a server node, the reports indicating a change in virtual machine status for virtual machines hosted on a virtual machine host node; and to allocate/de-allocate addresses to the virtual machines based on the change in virtual machine status and one or more policies. Some embodiments may operate to detect, at a virtual machine host node, a change in virtual machine status for virtual machines hosted on the host node; and to transmit reports to a server node from the host node, the reports indicating the change in virtual machine status, to enable the server node to allocate/de-allocate addresses to the virtual machines based on the change in virtual machine status and one or more policies. Abstract:
In one embodiment, a method is provided for returning missed phone calls. In this method, a missed phone call is detected and a phone number associated with the missed phone call is identified. A physical button located on an apparatus is assigned to the phone number. An indication that the missed phone call is associated with the physical button is initiated and after which, a single selection of the physical button is detected. A phone call to the phone number is then initiated in response to the detection of the single selection.

Methods, systems, and computer readable media for facilitating the use of wireless smart devices to purchase goods or services that are not available at a purchaser's location are provided. According to one aspect of the subject matter described herein, a method for facilitating the use of a wireless smart device to purchase goods or services is provided. The method includes providing a smart poster that advertises a good or service and is locatable in an area that is accessible by a potential purchaser of a good or service. The method includes directing, using a mechanism in or on the smart poster, the wireless smart device to access a section of an merchant's website specific to the good or service in response to the wireless smart device interfacing with the smart poster. The method further includes providing, via the wireless smart device, an option for the potential purchaser to purchase the good or service in a manner that bypasses a payment register in a retail location of the merchant.

Various embodiments of systems and methods for distributed mobile enterprise application platform (MEAP) are described herein. In one aspect, the method includes receiving a request to be executed from a mobile device. Based upon the request, one or more middleware components capable of executing the request are determined from one or more remotely located servers. A middleware component from the one or more middleware components is selected for executing the request. The request is sent to the selected middleware component for execution. Based upon the execution, an output is received from the selected middleware component. In one embodiment, the output is stored in a backend system or sent to a portable device from which the request is received. In another embodiment, the output is sent to another middleware component for further execution.

Systems and methods are provided for assigning and associating resources in a cloud computing environment. Virtual machines in the cloud computing environment can be assigned or associated with pools corresponding to users as dedicated, standby, or preemptible machines. The various states provide users with the ability to reserve a desired level of resources while also allowing the operator of the cloud computing environment to increase resource utilization.

The invention provides a method for the preparation of fentanyl comprising: (a) reacting 4-piperidone hydrochloride monohydrate with aniline in presence of reducing environment to produce 4-anilinopiperidine (4-AP), (b) reacting the 4-AP as obtained from step (a) with phenethyl halide under reflux conditions in highly alkaline medium to give 4-anilino-N-phenethylpiperidine, and (c) converting the 4-anilino-N-phenethylpiperidine to fentanyl by reacting with propionyl chloride in presence of halogenated hydrocarbons, then isolating fentanyl by solvent extraction and purifying by crystallization from petroleum ether at a temperature ranging from 60-80° C.
Abstract:
Data and computation may be unified (i.e., integrated) in a data center using a single query interface. Users may interact with the data center via a query interface to provide a query (i.e., a computation) to the data center. The results of the query may be referred to as derived datasets and may be managed by a cache server. In an implementation, a derived dataset is uniquely referenced by the query that computes it. Shared common computations are computed only once and may be reused by other computations. The result of a query may be computed (if not previously cached) and returned to the user. Infrequently used derived datasets may be garbage collected (e.g., deleted or otherwise removed from storage) by a garbage collector. This integration of data and computation provides efficient resource management for data center.
