    Abstract: Vulcanizable, elastomeric copolymers of vinyl ethers and cyclic polyenes, which have a molecular weight above 50,000 and a vinyl ether content in excess of 80%, are prepared by reacting an alkyl vinyl ether such as vinyl isobutyl ether with a conjugated cyclic diolefin wherein both double bonds are endocyclic or with a cyclic diolefin or triolefin having a system of conjugated double bonds, at least one of which is endocyclic, in the presence of a Friedel-Crafts catalyst and a solvent of low or high polarity; the nature and state of the obtained copolymer being controllable by the respective concentrations of the reactants and the polarity of the reaction medium.
